“Logan, I think Raelynn is behind all this. No, I am sure that her hand is behind this. She called me in the hospital and she said she knows about our daughter.” I shared what I thought and firmly believed.

“Kelly, can you take Lena inside?” Logan called Kelly who was cleaning the furniture.

“Yes, Sir.” She said and quickly picked Lena from him.

Once she went inside the house with Lena, Logan sighed.

“Can we talk now? We should be very careful about this.’ He said.

“Logan, there’s nothing to talk about it. You know how is Raelynn and her jealousy level. She hates me and now she sees Lena as a threat. She’s still not over you. Why can’t you see what is clearly visible to my eyes?”

I felt frustrated.

“I investigated about this when Lena was kidnapped but Raelynn is actually out of the city for two days and the kidnapper was a poor man. He was struggling with debt that’s why he kidnapped Lena. He’s dead now and his family confirmed that he was a criminal.” He told me.

My jaws hung low.

“And you believe this bullshit?”

“No, I am not believing anything but the facts which is laid in front of me. I can’t blame someone unless I have solid proofs against them.” He replied.

I scoffed and tried my best not to use harsh words.

“Logan, she can do it without being present in the city, okay. Don’t be a dumbhead man. You are smarter than this. It could be a part of a long planning.” I said.

“I didn’t sleep throughout the night, Tessa because I was digging for the truth and no leads indicated at Raelynn’s involvement in this nor her parents. Please, let’s believe that someone really kidnapped our daughter for money and he’s dead now.” He said.

His words stung me.

“So, you still believe her over your own wife, the mother of your daughter who could be gone forever.” I yelled this time because the emotional pain was too much to supress and it exploded in the form of

anger.

His expressions softened and he tried to touch me but I created distance between us.

“You don’t need to explain anything to me because now I understand that you still have a soft spot for Raelynn Cowper.” I said flatly.

His pupils dilated.

“Tessa, please, don’t do this. You know this isn’t true. You are more important to me.” He said in a little panic and held my hands but I freed them from his hold.

“Please, don’t lie to me and yourself because who’s more important to you is visible in your opinion. You don’t believe your wife’s instincts but the proofs which are definitely fabricated.” I said in a deadpanned

tone.

“Please, Tessa. Don’t do this because this isn’t true. I do believe you but you have to see that we can’t accuse someone without any proof.” He desperately tried to clarify cool down the argument between us.

“Logan, I don’t want to hear anything that you’d say so it’s better we don’t talk right now. I’ll handle this matter on my own. I don’t know about you but my child is more important for me than anyone else.” 1 looked away and this time I didn’t hide my bitterness.

“She’s my child too and I love her equally.” He corrected me.

“But your thoughts contradict with your emotions, Logan Wilferd.” I snapped at him and ran inside the house.

I felt heartbroken because Logan refused to believe that Raelynn could commit such crime.

But I had known her since childhood and how wicked she could get whenever she wanted something. I locked myself in my room because I had no mood to see Logan. When I begun to think that he had finally moved on from Raelynn, his denial to trust me broke my heart.

A few moments later, there was a soft knock on the door and I knew who it was.

“Mommy, please, open the door.” Lucas‘ voice came from the other side of the door.

I quickly wiped my tears and went to open the door because I didn’t want him to see us fighting.

“Hey, baby.” I knelt down to his level when I opened the door and saw him holding a glass of water.

“Please, drink some water. When you cry, your throat chokes.” He said in a soft voice.

My eyes again welled up and I quickly took the water from his hand.

“Thanks, Luke. You understand me better than anyone else.” I smiled faintly and drank the water.

My throat was really dry.

“Mommy, I know Dad made you cry this time and he is wrong.” He spoke.
