“Mom, I am surprised. You are coming to the carnival with us.” Lucas looked at me, who was sitting on the passenger’s seat while I was driving the car through the green valleys.
Kelly and Lena were busy talking to each other on the backseat.
“I just want to have a little break from work and take you, Lena and Kelly for a trip to the countryside. Your coach has recommended the festival. I think it’d be a great fun.” I answered my son’s query.
“I am happy that you want to enjoy for a day.” He spoke, it was quiet but I heard him anyway.
A smile stretched on my lips. Lucas was just like his father. He cared about me and Lena but the bond I shared with Lucas was deeper. We understood each other.
“Mamma, I will ride on the ferries wheel.” Lena exclaimed from behind.
“Sorry, baby but you’re too young for that but you can enjoy other rides.” I passed her an apologetic smile but she scowled.
“I am a big girl now. Please, Mamma.” She made a puppy face.
Sometimes, she acted very stubborn but I couldn’t blame her because we all loved and pampered her very much.
“Lena, it’s not good for you.” Lucas said to his sister, “You will feel sick on the wheel. I am also not going to ride on the ferries wheel but do other adventures.”
Surprisingly, she listened to her brother.
I silently drove through the meadows until we reached at our host’s farmhouse. The air was so refreshing, the area was quiet, scarcely crowdy. All I could see as far as my gaze allowed, there were only farms.
“Welcome to Connor’s Farm.” Eliot, who was standing outside the wooden fenced house, greeted us with a wide smile.
“Uncle Eliot! Please, take me to the carnival.” Lena ran to him.
Eliot crouched down to her level and put a straw hat on her head.
“First, you need to protect your head from the sun and wind.” He adjusted the hat on her head and she giggled.
“Please, come inside, everyone. My auntie is super busy since morning to prepare a countryside lunch for you all since it is the first time you are visiting our farmhouse.” Eliot asked us to come inside.
Kelly held the kids‘ hands and went inside first while I stayed behind to grab my handbag and Lena’s stuffs from the car’s backseat. When I turned around, I found Eliot still standing there.
“I could find my way inside.” I said.
“It’s your first time visit to my home. I don’t want to be a rude host, Ms. Vance.” He responded quickly.
ignored his comment and walked inside. I liked the house. It gave me the feeling of a rural life. Although, the house was equipped with modern facilities. The house was filled with the smell of delicious food.
“Tessa, my dear, come and enjoy some freshly squeezed pluin juice.” Alice called me
“Thanks, Alice but I’d prefer a glass of water first because I am not very used to drive through higher altitudes. I feel a bit dizzy.

I sat down and looked at my kids. They were relishing the snacks like some starved rabbits. They had their breakfast before leaving

“Auntie, I gave fodder to the cows and also checked on the roosters. We’re good to go and enjoy our evening.” Eliot walked into the house.
“When are we going, Mr. Connor?” Lucas asked him.
“As soon as we’re done with the lunch. The real fun of the carnival is always in the evening.” Eliot replied to my son.
“But I want to go now.” Lena pouted.
She had never been to a carnival. Lucas had gone two or three times when he was a kid. I could feel her excitement.
“What about I give you a tour to my animal farm? Do you want to see horses, sheep, cows, two dogs and also some roosters?” Eliot gave her another offer.
Her eyes lit up and she clapped her hands again.
“Mamma! Can I go and see the animals with Uncle Eliot?” Lena looked at me for permission.
“Okay, you may go but you won’t do mischief. Promise me.” I warned her because she was a troublemaker.
“You can go with her if you want. It’ll be a change of air for you as well.” Alice said to me.
I knew she wanted me and Eliot to date each other. She was an elderly lady and I didn’t want to be rude with her.
“Mom, please, come with us.” Lucas insisted.
I gave him a pointed look, a silent exchange of words between us.
“The animals are friendly here. They won’t bite you.” Eliot said.
Why this man wasn’t going to back away?
I wasn’t interested in him. I thought I had to talk to him clearly about it because I didn’t want things to become complicated. He was a good person.
“You kids can go while we old women prepare lunch and talk.” Kelly added.
I groaned. She was also trying to play a cupid in something non–existent.

‘Alright, let’s go.” I surrendered.
I couldn’t miss how everyone grinned.
“Lucas, stay close to Lena. You know she disappears if we blink our eyes.” I told my son.
“Don’t worry, Mom. You can stroll around on your own pace.” Lucas assured me.
“Lucas, Lena, I’ll show you the horses first.” Eliot said.
He led us to his animal farm. I was quietly enjoying the view while the kids were busy experiencing totally new world.
