Goodbye, Mr. Ex-Husband, I Won't Come Back novel Chapter 142

Tessa

“Ma’am, our latest stock is sold out but we’re getting more orders. I don’t know if we should feel excited or stressed because we don’t know if we can continue the manufacturing and supply on same level.” My assistant said as we discussed the statics.

“Can we hire more tailors?” I asked her.

“Yes, we can but we don’t know if they could sew as per our expectations. We also need to increase the raw material supply.” She replied.

I pressed my forehead. It was actually a challenging situation. The supply of raw materials sometimes got a bit lagged because we had to import the particular fabric.

“Alright then call the college freshers who have applied for the trainee job. I think they have potential and new ideas to share with us. Hurry up, we have a lot of work.” I said.

“Sure, Ma’am.” She said and left.

I sighed and looked down of the window of my office which looked more like my mini workshop where I created new ideas on papers and sometimes make dresses.

I was happy with my work. There were many challenges that I and my company faced everyday but we work together and came over everything. At the end of the day, I could spend time with my kids before calling it a day.

This new version of myself made me happier. The woman who had adjusted herself to fit in others’ frame was gone. I learned to live my life on my own terms without compromising or changing myself.

The separation still ached but it didn’t pain anymore.

My phone screen lit up and my thoughts came to a halt, it was a text alert. Looking down at screen, I read the name of the sender.

It was from Eliot and curiosity hiked inside me. Why did he text me?

It wasn’t the day of Lucas’ football practice but when I opened the text, there was an image instead. A smile stretched on my lips seeing my little angel relishing her favourite cinnamon cake.

Her face was smeared with the chocolate icing.

I shook my head and sent an emoji. His reply came instantly.

“Sorry to steal her without your permission but Kelly had to go for her dentist’s appointment and she asked me to babysit this little angel.”

I read the text and understood why he had taken her out. Initially I was paranoid that anyone could hurt my kids but with passing time, my fear subsided because those new people around me were really nice and helping.

“It’s fine but make sure she cleans herself first and no more sweet treats.” I sent back and kept my phone aside as I was getting late for my meeting with my marketing team.

Work was something that made me engross completely. I analysed everything with my team but they said we shouldn’t limit ourselves only within the country and build our network in other countries because they often received demands from other countries.

I knew what it might cost me.

The brighter side was more appealing but I couldn’t tell this to them that I was hiding from my past. I didn’t want my enemies to find me and try hurting me again.

“Ma’am, I think it’s a stormy night. We should go home now.” My assistant said.

“Lucas is doing his homework and Lena is whining me to make cinnamon cake for someone she met in the café and said he offered her his cake. You can come home to know the full story.” She said in a tired tone.

“I am on my way, Kelly. Please, take care.” I said and ended the call.

“It’s about Lena, isn’t it?” Rene glanced at me.

“Yes, she is very stubborn sometimes but this time it’s different.” I told her what I learned from Kelly.

“Ma’am, then buy cake from that shop, it’s not closed yet and it won’t take much time.” She suggested.

I shook my head, “No, it’s fine because the storm is getting worse. We should be home first. I know how I can handle my daughter.” I refused and she kept driving.

She was driving slowly as the raindrops begun to hit the windshield fiercely.

I was looking out of the window when my eyes fell on someone and I felt like a thunder had struck me. My blood ran cold.

There was Logan walking on the other side of the road but he wasn’t alone. A young, beautiful woman was walking by his side. They were exchanging talks which means they were pretty close.

It wasn’t a dream. Logan Wilferd, the man whom I left behind four years ago for my cousin, he was with another woman.

Perhaps, the story was opposite of what my brain was telling me but he was in the same city which concerned me.
