Watching the Steller family and other unfamiliar faces in the courtyard of the vintaged house, I silently enjoyed my wine. I was dragged here by my cousin who thought I needed a therapy to welcome changes in my stilled life.
I felt calmed, yes but if he meant that I would leave everything behind and start a new life, perhaps with his sister–in–law then he was living in an oblivion.
Ashley was a good person and someone who could talk to me bravely but having something more than mutual agreement to listen to each other, we didn’t have anything between us.
“The party will start in a few hours but it seems like we’re having a wedding here. I mean look at the number of relatives Amanda’s side of family have.” Felix, who came to stand by my side, commented.
“You’re their favourite son–in–law, you must feel lucky to be treated like a prince.” I said giving him a side glance.
He rolled his eyes.
“You can’t stop being sarcastic for a day? Yes, they are very nice towards me. I love the attention I am receiving but can’t you see, they have stolen my wife from me. I haven’t talked to her for two minutes. It’s her birthday as well.” He whined.
“She lives with you all the time. Let her be with her family for some time. Look at her, how happy she is.” I gestured him to look at his wife.
“Yes, she’s indeed happier being here with her maternal side of family but she’s stressed. The dress they ordered from the designer, it hasn’t arrived yet and the party will start in a couple of hours.” He told me.
“A woman celebrating her 80th birthday needs a special dress?” I raised my brow in wonder.
“I was wondering about the same.” He grinned.
“What do you think about Ashley?”
His question took me off guard.
“Felix, please, don’t start. You want me to be honest with you then listen,” I placed my glass down and turned to face my cousin, “You know me better than anyone else in our family and you also know what I am not interested in dating again. So, there’s no point of hoping something that is impossible.”
I was firm and determined with each word I said to my cousin.
“Logan, I am sorry if you got wrong idea about what I said. Everyone who saw you two together, they thought the same but I will clear this misunderstanding. Please, don’t worry.” He said.
“You better do it sooner.” I said and walked away from there.

“Thanks, and please, go and stay with Felix. Make sure he doesn’t get drunk before the party starts. My grandmother is already not a big fan of him.” She requested me.
