Logan’s eyes were blank, all I could see was unmeasured depth of pain and anguish behind the tough exterior.

“Don’t stay quiet, Tessa. I have been living with this guilt, this feeling of abandonment. I want to know what was my mistake that forced you to punish me like this?” He repeated.

Each word he spoke, it was laced in anger and somehow faint hatred.

“You really don’t know?” I managed to whisper through in my cracked voice.

“No, I don’t.” His reply came without any hesitation.

His hands were wrapped around my waist.

“There was no trust between us, Logan. I tried my best to work on our marriage. I gave my one hundred percent in our marriage but you weren’t there. You chose to believe a lying psycho who kidnapped our daughter. I chose my children’s safety and I don’t regret it.”

The anger I sedimented all these years, it exploded as soon as he triggered my patience.

His eyes stared deeply into mine to search something.

“You could prove it in other ways. Leaving me with our children, you thought it was the best way to solve issues?” He gritted his teeth.

“No, it was not but I wanted to keep my children safe. I don’t trust anyone in your world. Everyone wants to hurt those innocent souls and I as a mother, I don’t regret it.” I said firmly.

My tears threatened to spill but I held them back.

Breaking down in front of him means losing my resolution once again.

“I am sorry if you felt insecure. I admit that I failed to protect Lena, it was my mistake.” His voice lowered, “I broke things with Raelynn. In last four years, I haven’t seen her even for once.” He confessed.

I was shocked to hear this and a part of me felt relieved but it was too soon to decide.

“Is she behind the bars for kidnapping Lena?” I asked, voice steady.

He shook his head negatively and my heart dropped.

“Her father was the one who planned to kidnap Lena and he’s serving the imprisonment. Their business is now taken over by Raelynn’s uncle and I don’t know what Raelynn and her mother are doing in present. I never tried to know.” He told me.

I was shocked to my core.

“Is it true?” I asked again to believe.

He nodded his head slowly.

The business that my father built with his hard work and many sacrifices, it was gone. The Cowper family took everything front

“The business is reviving. I know him, he’s an honest and smart man who is keeping the business afloat. I have arvested in the business because I knew how much you’d be devastated to know it it’d go bankrupt ” He added

I lifted my gaze to lock eyes with Logan Wilferd.

“I have ended our marriage, Logan. It has been tour years and i don’t know if we could rebuild whatever we had between us

His face turned blank again.

“Tessa, just tell me, what have I done that pushed you to leave me. I am tired of living like this.” He sounded frustrated.

“You’re not a bad person. In fact, you were a great husband while we were married. It just we don’t fit together. There will always be differences and unasked questions between us. Please, let’s part ways. We can raise the kids together.” I said.

I knew that I sounded absurd.

“No, I won’t give up on us nor I will allow you. Mark my words, Tessa.” He said adamantly.

The passion in his eyes was visibly stronger.

“We’re already divorced, Logan so there’s no use of stretching it unnecessarily.” I said averting my gaze from him.

“Are we?” His lips curved upward.

A frown itched between my brows. What did he mean?

“Logan, I am not in a mood to joke. I signed the divorce papers and asked my lawyer to settle everything in my absence.” I said.

“A divorce happens when both parties sign the papers, give their written consent and court finalizes it. In your case, it never happened because I didn’t sign it.”

My heart almost skipped a beat.

“Logan, what the hell it means?” I yelled.

He again locked his hands around my waist and pulled me on his chest.

“We’re not divorced, Mrs. Wilferd. I am still your lawfully wedded husband.” He said closing the gap between our faces.

His fingers traced my face and it became impossible for me to act calm. He knew my weakness, his magical touches. Feeling them after a very long time pulled the strings of my heart.

“Take me to your home, Tessa. I don’t think I can wait any longer to meet our kids. I miss them so much. Four years are enough to make me suffer.” He whispered in a low, vulnerable voice that made its way to the bottom of my heart.
