“Hey, don’t stress too much. It’s not good for you.” Ruby, who was siting beside me, rubbed my hands to comfort me.

I wiped the moisture from my eyes which threatened to fall. Mrs. Wilferd’s words were always targeted to humiliate me in the most inhuman way.

She did it again. Although, her love for Lena was visible, yet I didn’t want her anywhere near my daughter because she hated me and I had no wish to see Lena witness such kind of treatment.

“Tessa, if you want you can stay at my condo. I don’t live there for over a year. The place is more secure than this. The wilferd family would be able to visit you there.” Adrian spoke.

I shook my head.

“Thanks for consideration, Adrian but I am fine here. I don’t want them to misunderstand me more and I have to learn how to fight because it’s about my baby now.”

I looked up with new confidence.

“That’s like my girl but I want you to stay away from any of them until you recover and defend yourself like a brave tigress.” Ruby cheered for me.

“I have ordered food. Don’t worry, it’s healthy and feeding mother friendly food. Tessa can eat it.” Adrian said.

“I am starving.” Ruby said.

“I’ll go and check on Lena till then.” I said and went to my room.

Ruby insisted that we should arrange a nursery for Lena but I refused because I wasn’t planning to stay there for long time and it would be a waste of money.

“The food is really good. How did you know that I like Italian food?” Ruby looked up at her brother.

“It’s Tessa’s favourite as well so I ordered it from her favourite restaurant where she often go to eat during lunch time. Am I right, Tess?” Adrian raised his brow at me.

I quietly nodded my head because my mind was preoccupied with many thoughts.

“Come on, Tess. You can be thinking about them this much.” Ruby said.

“I am not thinking about them.” I sighed and dropped my fork on the plate.

“Then why are you zoned out? You barely ate anything.” Adrian seemed worried.

“Guys, please, help me to find a new place to live. I want to start over as soon as I’ll be able to work. Lena needs stability in her life. I can’t raise her like this and I definitely want to keep her away from the Cowper family.” I finally said what had been going into my mind since Lilia Wilferd left.

“Tessa, it’s okay. You don’t have to worry about your living. We’re your friends and we’d help you but right now, your health is important. You have gone through a lot to bring Lena into this world. Please, don’t be cruel to yourself.”

Ruby said with genuine care as my friend.

“She is right, Tessa. We love to help you and Lena is also our niece. We love her. Please, don’t make her uncomfortable. She is very small to move from one place to another.” Adrian added.

I sighed and gave in.

“Alright, I won’t go anywhere for now but please, keep looking for an affordable housing because I really want to start afresli

“You both knew where I was living, Ruby. You could come to meet me any time.” I rolled my eyes.

“But I must say your husband could choke Adrian to death when he barged at my poor brother’s house at midnight and asked about you. He was never convinced that Adrian was unaware of your whereabouts.” Ruby said and my gaze followed Adrian’s discomfort.

“Did he really threaten you?” I asked Adrian because I felt bad for my friend who had only helped me throughout all the rough times.

“Never mind, he was out of your life and you were safe, that’s all matters to me.” He forced a smile.
