“Hey, baby, please don’t cry or mama will cry too.” I rocked my two weeks old daughter but she wasn’t ready to calm down.

I checked her temperature but it was normal. I consulted a pedestrian and she told me to visit her if Lena wouldn’t stop crying.

I felt helpless because I was alone. I had experienced it before when Lucas was small but dealing with a new born was challenging

“Lenny, my good baby. Please, don’t cry.” I kissed her head and hugged her close to my chest.

The baby calmed a little but still whining.

I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t want to bother Ruby who also had her own life and I had no one else on whom I could rely or seek help except one person.

My príde wasn’t allowing me to call him for help. I was sure that he’d come for Lena but it might also give him a hope that our marriage could be fixed.

But Lena started wailing again and the mother in me won. I dialled Logan’s number and he answered in on the second ring.

I wondered if he was waiting for the call.

“Hello, Tessa? Is it Lena crying? What happened to her?”

Logan sounded panicked as he fired countless questions.

“I don’t know. She doesn’t have a fever but I think we should take her to the doctor. Can you come if you have time?”

I felt bad because I knew how busy his professional life was.

“I’ll be there in twenty–minutes. Please, be ready. We’ll visit the doctor.” He said and ended the call.

No doubt he was a caring parent for his children. One of the reasons, I didn’t want to forbid him from seeing Lena.

True to his words, he arrived within twenty minutes. He looked worried when I opened the door for him with Lena in one arm.

“How is she?” He asked taking a glance at our daughter.

“She’s crying.” I gave him a look of disbelief because Lena was fussing.

“Give her to me and get her things. I have taken an appointment with Dr. Colby.” He said.

How fast he could be with such matters?

Dr. Colby was Lucas‘ doctor and she was trusted.

But as soon as I handed Lena to him, she stopped crying. It was sudden. She calmed down completely as if she was missing him.

“You could call me a little earlier if my arms could make her feel better.” A smile spread on his lips as he rocked our girl with

caution.

I had no words to say.

Lena missed her father but we couldn’t be sure until the doctor checked her.

“I’ll go and change my clothes. It’s better if we consult the doctor.” I said and left Lena with her father.
