Chapter 122 15 Million in Compensation

Chapter 122 15 Million in Compensation

Eloise thought it was a scam at first.

But when she looked closer, she saw it was actually from her bank.

With the box in her arms, her hands were too busy to check her phone.

She jumped into her car and quickly opened her banking app.

She stared in shock. Her account balance had shot up to eight digits.

The latest deposit? A fifteen followed by six zeros.

That was fifteen million dollars.

Her first thought was that the bank had messed up and transferred some rich lady’s money to her account by mistake.

But when she checked the sender’s name, it was the same account that sent her paycheck every month.

‘Wait, did Hayes Group really send this? Is this my severance pay?’ Eloise wondered.

‘Did the finance department lose their minds today and add three extra zeros by accident?’ she thought.

‘Who gets severance pay this high? There’s no way this is real. It has to be a mistake!’ Eloise told herself.

Just then, her phone buzzed again.

Another 15 thousand had been deposited into her account.

‘That must be my salary for this month,’ Eloise thought.

Her salary had never been this high before. Even after her last raise, it wasn’t this much. ‘Did they bump it up again?’ she wondered.

Staring at the huge sum sitting in her bank account, Eloise felt anxious for what felt like forever. Finally, she decided to call Beckett and tell him the finance team must’ve messed up.

After leaving Cyrus, Beckett headed straight to a bar and had a few drinks already.

When he saw Eloise calling, he picked up right away. “Eloise, I want you back. Stay with me, don’t go.”

Eloise just stared, speechless.

After a moment, she replied, “Sorry, Mr. Hayes. I just need to rest for a while.”

“Eloise…” Beckett started.

Eloise cut him off. “Mr. Hayes, I actually called about something else. The finance team messed up my severance payment. I’m pretty sure it was supposed to be 15 thousand, but they sent me 15 million instead. Seriously, I think there’s been a huge mistake.”

Beckett remembered Cyrus mentioning that Grayson wanted Eloise to get 15 million dollars as compensation.

“Just take it,” Beckett said.

Eloise was stunned into silence, not even sure what to say.

“Mr. Hayes, you know the company will catch this kind of thing in no time. I’d rather send it back now than have them come knocking on my door later,” she said.

Beckett replied, “It’s not a mistake. Just keep it.”

Eloise was speechless.

‘Wait, no mistake? The company really sent me 15 million as compensation?’ Eloise thought, her head spinning.

‘Holy crap!’ Eloise blurted out, totally stunned.

She still couldn’t believe it. “Mr. Hayes, are you for real? Is there some scheme going on? Did the company do something shady and now they want me take the Water

Chapter 122 15 Million in Compensation

Beckett was at a loss for words.

He thought, ‘Honestly, anyone would get paranoid if a fortune like that just landed in their lap!

He said, “I swear, there’s nothing shady going on and you’re not being set up. The money is yours. Use it however you want. My dad gave it to you because Tessa screwed up big time. If he didn’t pay, Grayson would come after my family.”

Eloise was speechless.

‘So Cyrus really handed me 15 million, all thanks to Grayson Pierce?’ Eloise thought.

Right then, she got a real taste of just how scary the power of these wealthy big shots could be.

‘That’s insane!’ Eloise thought.

Eloise joked, “Mr. Hayes, maybe I should let Tessa mess with me again. Who knows, maybe I’ll get another big payout?”

Beckett was at a loss for words, just staring at her.

He couldn’t help but laugh at how cute Eloise was when she got all money-crazy.

“Honestly, it’s lucky nothing happened that day. Trust me, if things had gone south, you wouldn’t be joking about it now,” he said.

Eloise smacked her lips, still a little stunned.

‘He’s right. If I’d really been drugged and ended up in bed with Beckett, I would’ve made sure Tessa paid for it, no matter what, she thought.

Of course, she wouldn’t have blamed Beckett for any of it.

She cleared her throat. “Well, since it turned out to be a beautiful misunderstanding, I’ll just accept it. Bye, Mr. Hayes.”

“Eloise!” Beckett called out, stopping her.

Eloise didn’t hang up, waiting for him to say something.

Beckett asked softly, “We’re still friends, right?”

Eloise paused for a moment. ‘Yeah, we are.

“Next week’s my engagement. I’d like to see you come,” Beckett said.

“Is that really okay?” Eloise asked.

Giavanna already suspects there’s something between me and Beckett. If I show up, she’ll probably flip out.

Beckett said, “You won’t even give me this much?”

“It’s not that, Mr. Hayes. There’s nothing going on between us, but Giavanna doesn’t see it that way. You’re getting engaged to her. She’s your fiancée now. You should respect her and think about how she feels. If I’m there, she definitely won’t be happy. So, I really can’t go,” Eloise explained.

Beckett let out a bitter laugh and put down his phone, the call already ended.

Eloise was on cloud nine. She was so happy she just had to share it with someone.

She called Juliette, but Juliette didn’t pick up. Instead, she got a text: [Babe, I’m in a meeting. I’ll call you back later.]

Eloise had no choice but to enjoy her happiness all by herself.

She hugged her phone, grinning like an idiot for ages before finally driving home.

Just as she was almost home, her phone rang. It was Finn. “Ms. Caldwell, the movers are already at Maple Apartments. When will you be home?”

Eloise hadn’t expected Grayson to move so fast. “I’ll be home in five minutes.”

“Alright, I’ll have them wait at your door. Oh, and Ms. Caldwell, Mr. Pierce has a meeting, but he said he’ll be home as soon as he can,” Finn said.

Eloise was speechless.

She almost wanted to say Grayson coming home was none of her business, but then she remembered he’d just landed her 15 million.

“Got it, thanks, Finn,” Eloise said.

“No problem, Ms. Caldwell,” Finn replied.

When Eloise got home, the movers were already waiting at the door.

While they were moving her stuff, Eloise got in touch with her landlord about moving out.

The landlord said he’d refund the leftover rent, but wouldn’t give back the deposit.

That was in the contract from the start, so Eloise didn’t mind.

The landlord said he’d come by tomorrow to check the place and do the handover.

A whole crew of movers showed up, and in just half an hour, they had everything packed and loaded onto the truck.

Eloise drove over to Clidale Road.

The villa was only about two miles from Maple Apartments. She barely had time to blink before she arrived.

The folder Finn had given her was still in the car.

She found the code and entered it.

Once the movers left, Eloise started unpacking.

Most of the stuff was Noah’s. He had way more things than she did.

Grayson walked out of the meeting room, Finn at his side, updating him on work matters.

By the time they got back to the office, Finn had nearly finished his report.

Grayson asked, “Did the movers finish up?”

Finn replied, “They texted me. Everything’s done.”

Grayson nodded.

After sitting down, Grayson said, “Get someone to send a message to Tessa Hayes. Tell her I’m not letting her off. If I catch her, I’ll break her legs and sell her to a brothel.”

Finn’s mouth twitched. “Mr. Pierce, what did Ms. Hayes do to piss you off?”
