Chapter 87
Eloise gave a wry smile. “It’s all just baseless rumors. Don’t believe a word of it.”
Felice was about to ask more, but Eloise handed her a file. “Get this organized by noon.”

Just before lunch, Tessa stormed into the office, fuming.
“Wow, Eloise, you really take the cake! Now you’re even going after Grayson? Seriously, have you no shame?” Tessa snapped.
Eloise frowned at her. “Ms. Hayes, please mind your words.”
Tessa’s voice shot up. “Did I say anything wrong? Flirting with Beckett wasn’t enough for you, now you’re chasing Grayson too?
“Guess you really can’t tell what someone’s like just by looking at them. You already have a kid, and you still can’t stay out of trouble.”
“No wonder you kept dodging Beckett. Turns out you were just aiming for someone with a bigger wallet,” Tessa sneered.
“Let me tell you, Eloise, Grayson is way out of your league. You better drop whatever ideas you have about him, right now,” Tessa warned.
Felice and Bertha stared at the drama, both wide-eyed in shock.
They leaned in, whispering under their breath.
“Didn’t Ms. Hayes just invite Ms. Caldwell to lunch a couple days ago? Why’s she suddenly going off on her?” Felice muttered.
“Come on, you know Ms. Hayes is totally into Mr. Pierce. Remember that time she confessed to him and got busted?” Bertha whispered back.
“Oh, yeah, now I remember,” Felice nodded.
“Ms. Hayes has a crush on Mr. Pierce, and now there are rumors about Ms. Caldwell and him. No wonder she’s freaking out,” Bertha said.
“That actually explains a lot,” Felice agreed.
“Wait, did Ms. Hayes just say she wanted Ms. Caldwell to hook up with Mr. Hayes?” Felice asked, still confused.
“You heard her right,” Bertha confirmed.
“Seriously, this is a total soap opera!” Felice blurted out.

“Haven’t you noticed Mr. Hayes treats Ms. Caldwell kind of differently? Maybe he really does like her,” Bertha mused.
Just then, Beckett walked out. “Tessa, this is a company, not your stage for drama. Get out, now!”
Tessa snorted. “Who do you think you are, telling me to leave? You’re the one who should get lost! You illegitimate brat! Wild child!”
She didn’t have to fake it anymore. Tessa was really letting loose, enjoying every second of cursing him out.
Just calling him “Beckett” made her want to gag.
Beckett marched right up to her and slapped her hard across the face. Tessa’s head jerked to the side, and her cheek instantly puffed up.
Tessa clutched her burning cheek, glaring at Beckett in disbelief. “You hit me? How dare you?”
Beckett’s expression was icy. “With a filthy mouth like yours, you had it coming. Now get out!”
Tessa ran off in tears, heading straight for Cyrus.
Eloise thought Beckett’s slap was well-deserved.
Even Eloise would have lost it if someone called her a bastard in front of everyone, so for Beckett, a grown man, it must’ve been even worse.
With his family drama being watched by all the staff, Beckett couldn’t save face. He headed back to his office.
Eloise’s phone rang.
It was Grayson calling.
She picked up. “Hey?”
Her voice was gentle and quiet.
Grayson felt his heart itch, like a cat pawing at it, restless and soft.
“Come downstairs. I’m waiting for you,” Grayson said.
As soon as Eloise stepped out of the elevator, she saw a crowd gathered at the company entrance.
‘What’s going on?’ she wondered.
Curious, she walked over.
There was Grayson, looking sharp in a tailored suit, leaning against the door of a silver sports car.
The trunk was wide open, overflowing with red roses.
The crowd was staring at him like he was some kind of spectacle.

Grayson didn’t even spare them a glance, just idly fiddling with his phone, totally at ease, like he was used to being watched and talked about.
He was used to it.
Eloise definitely wasn’t.
She tried to sneak away, quietly turning around and hoping to slip out before anyone spotted her.
She’d barely made it a step.
Grayson called out, “Eloise!”
Eloise froze for a second.
She acted like she hadn’t heard him and kept moving forward.
But after just a few steps, he caught her by the wrist.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Grayson said.
Eloise turned around stiffly, forcing her trademark smile. “Mr. Pierce, what brings you to our office today?”
Grayson curled his lips into a faint smile. “Didn’t I just call you? I’m here to win someone over.”
Eloise was speechless.
“Got it. I won’t get in the way of your romantic mission, Mr. Pierce,” Eloise said.
She tried to slip away, but Grayson’s grip was like steel.
Grayson leaned in, his voice just for her: “Eloise, if you keep struggling, I’ll kiss you right here.”
Eloise was speechless.
Grayson chuckled. “Rhys said girls are into flowers, so I got you roses. What do you think? If they’re not your thing, I’ll bring something different tomorrow.”
Eloise glared at Grayson, with everyone gossiping and staring at them.
Grayson practically shoved her into the sports car.
Tessa watched as the silver sports car sped off, so mad she stomped her foot.
She’d just gotten slapped by Beckett, and when she ran to her dad to complain, he didn’t even defend her. Instead, he tore into her.
Then, as soon as she got downstairs, she saw Grayson practically dragging Eloise into the car, with a whole
trunk stuffed full of roses for her.
To make matters worse, she could hear the Hayes Group staff chattering away at the entrance.

“Mr. Pierce is totally going after Ms. Caldwell! That trunk of roses? So romantic!” someone squealed.
“Didn’t they say Ms. Caldwell already has a kid? Mr. Pierce doesn’t care?” another whispered.
“He must not care, or he wouldn’t be making such a scene picking her up,” someone else added.
“I’m so jealous of Ms. Caldwell! What did she do in her last life to score this kind of luck?” one sighed.
“No one else could ever get that lucky,” another agreed.
Tessa was about to explode.
‘Why do all these guys keep falling for Eloise, even though she’s already had a kid? Are they blind?’ Tessa fumed.
‘Seriously, are they blind?’ she thought, gritting her teeth.
‘It has to be because Eloise is just too good at wrapping men around her finger,’ Tessa seethed.
‘Bitch! Homewrecker! I’ll make her regret this!’ Tessa raged, seeing red.
