He Cheated I Rose Making Him Regret Everything (Chloe and Arthur) novel Chapter 214

**TITLE: A Promise Hidden in the Quiet Rain by Adrian Hale**
**Chapter 214: Taming the Wild Horse**

Eugene’s demeanor shifted dramatically as he absorbed Chloe’s choice. The lightness in the air vanished, replaced by a weighty seriousness.

“Let’s not go with that one,” Landon interjected, urgency lacing his voice. “Every single one of these imported purebreds has a well-documented lineage. The seller included that extra horse for free because we paid significantly more than the asking price. But its bloodline is tainted with wild mustang genes. It’s unpredictable, hasn’t undergone proper evaluation, and it’s definitely not suited for racing.”

Chloe’s smile widened, a spark of mischief in her eyes. “Let’s treat this as a challenge. How can you be so certain it’s unsuitable without giving it a fair chance?”

“Chloe, I—”

“I choose that one,” she declared, her voice resolute. “A horse with a wild spirit sounds much more intriguing.”

“But—”

“I’ll take full responsibility for my decision,” she interrupted, her tone leaving no room for argument.

Landon’s expression shifted to one of helplessness as he glanced at Eugene, seeking guidance. With the boss present, the ultimate choice lay with him.

Eugene stepped forward, his voice dropping to a serious tone. “That horse is fierce. It doesn’t even have a name yet. None of our handlers have been able to tame it. Its behavior remains erratic. Are you absolutely sure you want to proceed with this?”

“If others have failed to tame it, that only fuels my desire to try harder,” Chloe replied, her eyes sparkling with determination. A slight smile danced on her lips as she met Eugene’s gaze. “The more challenging it is, the more it proves worth pursuing, wouldn’t you agree?”

“Very well,” Eugene conceded with a curt nod, signaling the staff to bring the horse forward.

As Eugene’s approval echoed in the air, Landon sidled up to Chloe, speaking in a hushed tone. “We can let you interact with it, but when it comes to the race… let’s not push it. I’m genuinely worried—”

“Are you suggesting I can’t handle her?” Chloe shot back, her confidence unwavering.

Landon fell silent, caught off guard by the fierce determination in her eyes. For a moment, he felt his concerns dissipate, realizing he might be overreacting.

Without waiting for further discussion, Chloe strode forward, anticipation coursing through her veins as she awaited the staff to bring the horse.

The moment they entered the stall, it was evident that the horse had a fiery temperament. It fidgeted restlessly, pawing at the ground, shifting from side to side, and snorting in protest as if protesting the intrusion.

Soon, they led it out. As the striking pure white horse approached, a palpable tension filled the air; the other five horses shifted uncomfortably, their instincts sensing the wild energy, while only Gale remained relatively composed.

“Let go of the lead rope,” Chloe commanded the staff member, stepping forward with an air of authority.

The staff member hesitated, anxiety evident in his eyes as he glanced at Eugene for reassurance. After receiving a firm nod, he reluctantly released the reins.

And deep down, he believed it would conclude perfectly.

“Incredible! How did she even pull that off?” Landon muttered, awe evident in his voice.

As the horse reared again in a desperate attempt to unseat her, Chloe made a decisive move—she tightened the reins and expertly guided the horse into tighter circles, confining its movements. The horse, irritated by the constraint, snorted repeatedly, but gradually, it began to calm.

The once untamed beast settled into steady, controlled strides, a testament to Chloe’s skill.

“She tamed a horse our trainers deemed ‘untamable’… and she made it look effortless,” Landon marveled, unable to hide his admiration. “Eugene, this woman you’re interested in… she’s extraordinary.”

A small smile crept onto Eugene’s lips, his gaze unwavering as he watched Chloe.

As she rode the now-calm horse back toward the group, the other five horses grew restless again, even steady Gale showing signs of agitation.

“This one has a wild heart. Its bloodline may not be as pure as the others, but it’s a natural-born racer. It could either push its limits to the max or tire out after just one lap,” Landon observed, inching closer, only to stop as the white horse flinched at his approach.

“We’ll discover soon enough if it can endure the distance,” Chloe replied, her smile brightening as she glanced at the others. “Shall we begin? I’m genuinely eager to see what this one can do.” As she spoke, she reached down, gently stroking the white horse’s neck, a gesture of trust and connection.
