He Cheated I Rose Making Him Regret Everything (Chloe and Arthur) novel Chapter 225

**A Promise Hidden in the Quiet Rain by Adrian Hale**
**Chapter 225: Carried Out in Her Chair**

“Yeah, it was me,” Chloe declared, a subtle smile dancing on her lips, her confidence radiating like a beacon.

Carolyn stared at her, taken aback by the sheer audacity of Chloe’s admission. How could she be so brazen? Who did she think she was? Just a minor designer, hardly a household name—did she even make a million a year? The mere thought was laughable.

And that title of “founder” meant little to Carolyn. She had inquired about it with Henry, and he had made it clear: people like Chloe merely conjured up a name and a concept, yet they lacked the financial power to back it. Often, if they found themselves as the legal face of a project, it was merely to shoulder the blame when things went south. They wielded no real authority.

So what was Chloe so smug about?

“You gave them what, exactly? How did you manage that? Just waltzed in for a visit and decided to distribute all that lavish merchandise? Should I label you as stupid-rich, or simply foolish—trying to claim credit that isn’t yours?” Carolyn’s laughter echoed in the room, her disdain evident as she reveled in the moment.

“Let me offer you a piece of advice: that little tale of yours won’t fool anyone. If you’re intent on pretending to be the benefactor, at least have the decency to call yourself an investor. That would sound somewhat credible. Investors know how to assert themselves. But you? Do you even meet the criteria?”

Chloe straightened in her chair, her demeanor calm and collected. “The staff has already informed you—it’s not your position to determine who qualifies,” she said, her voice steady. “Did your mother only teach you how to snatch other women’s partners, neglecting to instruct you on basic decorum? If she didn’t, I’d be more than happy to give you a lesson today.”

“Chloe, what did you just say to me?” Carolyn’s voice rose in disbelief, her eyes wide.

But Chloe, unfazed by the outburst, turned her attention to the guards. “Could you kindly escort this rather loud woman out?”

“Understood, Ms. Lewis,” the lead guard responded, his tone professional yet firm. He pivoted to Carolyn, gesturing with authority. “Ms. Carolyn Lewis, it’s time for you to leave. If you refuse, we will not hesitate to use force.”

“Are you serious? Did you not hear what Mr. Vick just said? Do you even know who he is?” Carolyn’s voice dripped with sarcasm as she dragged a chair closer, plopping down with a thud. “I’m right here. Let’s see who dares to touch me.”

She sat there, a self-satisfied smirk plastered on her face. Pulling out her phone, she snapped a picture of the head guard, crafting a melodramatic message to send to Henry—someone was stealing her spotlight, and he needed to rush over to rectify the situation.

Moments later, a grin spread across her features as Henry’s reply appeared: “I’m on my way. The driver is already en route—just a few minutes out.”

With that message, Carolyn felt a wave of relief wash over her. She had this situation under control.

“Nonsense! Using Mr. Merrow to intimidate me? Let’s not forget—I’m here as the second female lead because he extended an invitation. My presence here is a favor to you all. Who do you think you are, trying to teach me a lesson?” Carolyn jabbed a finger at Chloe, her voice sharp. “I was the one who allowed these outsiders in. Now they’re disrespecting me. I demand you throw them out. Is that really so hard to grasp?”

The guard couldn’t suppress a short chuckle.

“Ms. Carolyn Lewis, Ms. Chloe Lewis is an esteemed guest. We have explicit orders from above to accommodate her. Placing her in the VIP lounge was a directive from the top. None of this concerns you. We’ve already explained this. Did you not comprehend? I’m willing to repeat it if necessary.” His voice remained steady, his expression unyielding.

“You…” Carolyn stared, flabbergasted. What did he mean it had nothing to do with her? Wasn’t all of this orchestrated by Henry? Had there been a miscommunication regarding his instructions?

“This is absurd. Are you certain you understood what the higher-ups intended? Perhaps there was a mix-up. Maybe they instructed you to receive her—not to coddle her.” Carolyn spoke out, hoping to clarify for these foolish guards, so they could differentiate clearly.

Same words, two entirely different meanings.

“We understood perfectly, and we are acting precisely as directed,” the guard replied, his expression hardening. “Ms. Carolyn Lewis, please return to your lounge now. If you choose to resist, we can only apologize for the consequences that may follow.”
