I stared at him in disbelief, almost doubting my own ears.
I glared at him for a long time before finally speaking: “Do you dare to repeat what you just said?”
If Georgia said something like that, at least she’s a girl like me, and she’s my biological sister.
But Reginald is a man–how could he say something like that to a woman like me?
“Don’t you think that’s a bit abrupt?”
I asked him.
Reginald hurried to explain: “Oh, that’s not what I meant. I just saw Calvin across the street and was worried they might bother you again, so I was a bit concerned, that’s all.”
I snorted and didn’t respond.
The man continued, “How about you move in with me?”
I caught the key word in his sentence and asked, “With you? Where exactly is ‘your place“?”
“Did you buy a house in New York again so soon?”
I was honestly impressed by how fast he acted.
Reginald nodded, looking as if it was only natural: “Since I’ve decided to return to develop my career here, settling down is obviously the first thing to do.”
I didn’t say anything more and bent down to put the dishes into the dishwasher.
He kept trying to persuade me: “You can live anywhere, but look, I can cook for you, wash the dishes for you…”
I interrupted him: “I can cook for myself, and I have a dishwasher for the dishes.
As soon as I finished speaking, the kitchen fell silent.
I held my breath, wondering if I’d been too harsh, and looked up at Reginald with a bit of guilt.
Sure enough, his face was covered with disappointment, and the light in his instantly.

It was an expression I’d never seen before on Reginald’s always carefree face.
I pressed my lips together and finally couldn’t help but take a step back: “Alright.”

As soon as I said that, Reginald suddenly looked up, his eyes shining as he asked, “You agreed?”
Then, as if afraid I’d change my mind, he turned on the recording app on his phone and held it out to me: “Say it again, I’m afraid you’ll regret it.”
I rolled my eyes, but still cooperated, speaking into the recorder: “I, Whitney, agree to let Reginald temporarily stay at my place.”
At that, Reginald smiled with satisfaction and was about to put his phone away.
I grabbed it and raised my voice: “But!”
He was taken aback: “There’s a ‘but‘?”
I nodded, looking him in the eye: “You handle the chores, and you sleep on the sofa.”
Reginald laughed again when he heard that: “No problem, that’s nothing.”
The apartment I rented only has one bedroom, and the other room has already been turned into a study, so of course I couldn’t let him sleep in my room–he could only sleep on the sofa.
No matter what, Reginald had achieved his goal.
That very night, some of his luggage was delivered.
I lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to fall asleep.
Reginald stayed in the living room, completely quiet, but his presence was impossible to ignore.
Every time I closed my eyes, I could see his infuriating yet handsome face.
Thinking of that, I couldn’t help but cover my chest with my
hand.
I’m doomed–I’ve caught feelings.
The heartbeat in my chest was so fast it was impossible to ignore.
I hadn’t felt this way in a long time.
I simply couldn’t sleep!
I sat up, crossed my legs, held my breath, and tried to steady my slightly chaotic breathing and my

uncontrollably racing heart.
But no matter how I tried, I still couldn’t calm down.
There was still no sound from the living room, and I suddenly grew curious.
Could it be that Reginald was actually able to fall asleep?

I got up and pressed my ear to the door, trying to hear what was happening outside more clearly.
But I couldn’t hear anything at all.
