He Gave Her My Eyes A Story of Final Sight novel Chapter 247

Teresa turned toward the voice and spotted Leila marching over, her face thunderous with anger.

A chill swept through Teresa’s eyes. She stepped protectively in front of Janetta, her voice cold and steady. “You’re not welcome here. Please leave right now.”

Leila had spent too long tracking Janetta down to just walk away. Her lips curled into a nasty smirk. “Leave? Who do you think you are? Just because you say so, I’m supposed to listen?”

She reached out, ready to shove Teresa aside, but Teresa was quicker. She caught Leila’s wrist in a tight grip and shot her a warning. “Leila, I’m telling you now, watch yourself.”

Leila knew she couldn’t win if this turned into a fight, not with Teresa. Still, that wasn’t why she’d come. She turned her attention to Janetta, her tone sharp and accusing.

“Eric cheated and has a kid on the side. He even moved all the money so I’m left with nothing. Janetta, he’s your son. Don’t tell me he’d cut you off too.”

Leila folded her arms, all traces of her old polished life gone. “Let’s not waste time. Hand over whatever money he gave you and I’ll leave you alone. Simple as that.”

So this was about money. Of course.

Janetta stared at Leila, completely lost. “What money? I don’t know what you mean.”

Leila’s eyes flashed. She rushed forward. “Come on, drop the act. No matter how much of a jerk Eric is, he wouldn’t abandon his own mother. I get it, you just don’t want to help me, right?”

“Eric’s heartless and now you’re just going to stand back and watch? I have nothing. How am I supposed to keep things together? You want to see Eric and Patti get bullied in prison? And what about Felton? He’s at some nightclub just to make ends meet. Meanwhile, look at you—living in this fancy place, covered in gold. Are you trying to ruin us?”
