He Gave Me Hearing, Then Taught Me What Silence Really Means novel Chapter 215

Juniper always said Yara had a sharp tongue but a soft heart.

And it was true. Yara was incredibly empathetic and quick to soften, even if her words were abrasive.

Just like when Juniper hit rock bottom, Yara was ready to empty her life savings to help her.

Both of them had suffered immensely because of poverty, so they understood exactly how vital money was.

Yet Yara was still willing to give it all away.

Harrison was quiet for a few seconds before slowly standing up. "The anniversary of my mother's death is in a few days. I want to go visit her, but since I can't see right now, I was hoping you could take me. I have some money saved up. If you're willing, consider it a hired job. Would that be alright?"

Yara guided him toward the lobby entrance. "You could just wait until you recover before going."

"I go see her every year on her anniversary. If I miss it, I'm afraid she'll worry about me."

Yara couldn't help but recall the nasty gossip from those two men earlier. Harrison's mother...

She frowned, knowing it wasn't her place to ask about something so sensitive.

Besides, Harrison exuded such a gentle, scholarly aura, and his request was so polite that she found it impossible to say no.

"Where is your hometown? How many days will it take?"

"Riverford. Three days is enough."

Yara's next two days were scheduled off, and she could easily swap a shift with a coworker to get a full three days.

She nodded. "My time is valuable. How much are you paying?"

"Three thousand dollars?"

He sounded hesitant, worried it was too low. "If that's not enough, I can offer more."

Yara's lips curved into a faint smile. He really was entirely too honest. "Three thousand is fine. It's plenty."
