He Gave Me Hearing, Then Taught Me What Silence Really Means novel Chapter 302

She lowered her eyelashes. During the year she was locked away in that place, she had never seen Director Vane's son. She was certain he hadn't seen her face either, though he had probably heard her name.

She put on a cap and a face mask, planning to scope out the area first.

Beatrice Lane's death was a lingering shadow in her mind. If she could just do something about it, maybe the suffocating weight on her chest would ease.

There was a famous open-air food stall near Aquarius Heights that was rumored to be packed every night.

Juniper had already locked down Forrest Vane's appearance. After asking around, she discovered that he ate at this very food stall every single evening.

His apartment was about nine hundred square feet, which was massive for such a prime location where every inch of land was worth its weight in gold.

At nine o'clock that night, Forrest was eating at the stall with a few friends, cases of beer stacked high in front of them.

Forrest looked exactly like a slacker who had never worked a day in his life. The guys with him were his childhood buddies from Oakley. Out of all of them, Forrest was the only one doing well—able to afford a house in a major metropolis, and at such an exorbitant price per square foot, no less.

Nine hundred square feet. Paid in cash. Over five million dollars.

His drinking buddies would probably never earn five million dollars in their entire lifetimes.

Forrest loved to show off. He felt inadequate around the wealthy locals, so he constantly dragged his hometown friends here every few days to feed his ego.

Every time he opened his mouth, he bragged about his five-million-dollar condo and flashed his BMW keys, making the others seethe with jealousy.
