When Nelson first dragged her into the room, he felt a rage so fierce he could have strangled her. But the moment he registered her unwavering gaze, the fury slowly bled out of him.
He leaned down, kissing her lips with a quiet intensity, feeling as though he could never get enough.
Meanwhile, Juniper's mind flashed back to the words he had spat at Julian Sterling: *I want her to suffer.*
She lowered her lashes, her gaze drifting down to his collarbone.
Whether it was the blinding flare of the lights or the distracting blasts of the fireworks outside, the skin right there looked faintly different from the rest.
She reached out to touch it, but he immediately intercepted her fingers. "Focus."
His voice was dangerously hoarse.
Juniper lifted her calm gaze to his face. His sharp features were flooded with a deeply satiated thrill, the corners of his eyes flushed with a dark, almost predatory heat.
Using Nelson to trigger Lydia was the most direct method available.
It was also the easiest way to completely break Lydia's composure.
Juniper leaned up and sank her teeth into his jaw, intentionally leaving a harsh, distinct mark.
Nelson went completely rigid. His hands were instinctively gripping her waist, but as he slowly processed what she had just done, he stared at her in sheer disbelief.
Was she... initiating?
The price for that single bite was devastatingly high. It wasn't until the early hours of the morning that Juniper was finally released.
Nelson, on the other hand, felt completely rejuvenated. He even answered a call from Julian, who demanded he come out for a drink, claiming the entire group was waiting.
He took a quick shower, leaned down, and pressed a kiss to Juniper's cheek. "Go to sleep."
It was his private suite; only his keycard could grant access.
Juniper kept her eyes shut, completely ignoring him.
When Nelson strolled up to their table sporting a blatant bite mark on his jaw, the atmosphere instantly shifted into loaded, knowing stares.
Julian smirked. "You don't exactly look like a man dying of thirst. Looks like my phone call was perfectly timed."
Nelson was in an exceptionally good mood and didn't bother engaging in a battle of wits. He simply took a seat. "Ignore him."
