He Gave Me Hearing, Then Taught Me What Silence Really Means novel Chapter 367

Nelson's phone started buzzing again. He had canceled a massive executive meeting today, and they desperately needed his authorization, pushing the chaos entirely onto Quinn.

He took three calls back-to-back. The final one was from Julian.

Julian was currently sitting in his car outside Nelson's estate, holding a freshly drafted contract. The two had just finalized a lucrative project two days ago and were supposed to review it tonight. When he finally got through, Nelson flatly stated, "I'm on my way to Oakley."

Julian burst out laughing, spinning around in sheer frustration. "Mr. Boss Man, even if you're going to blow me off, couldn't you have given me a heads-up? I've been sitting out here for two hours!"

Nelson felt zero remorse. "Next time," he replied mechanically.

Julian practically blew fire from his nose. Hearing the name 'Oakley,' he knew instantly this was about Juniper again.

He frowned, wanting to pry but unsure of how to ask. He finally let out a long sigh. "Fine, my luck is trash today. Call me when you're back."

He got back into his car, slammed on the gas, and sped off.

Nelson was genuinely swamped. For the rest of the drive, he fielded over a dozen calls.

He handled the corporate crises flawlessly, barking out rapid-fire instructions before ending the last call with a lethal warning. "Anything you can't handle, go to Quinn."

With that, he finally took a breath and glanced in the rearview mirror. Juniper was staring blankly out the window in absolute silence.

Nelson tightened his grip on the wheel, a sharp sting piercing his chest. He desperately wanted to strike up a conversation, but racking his brain, there was absolutely nothing lighthearted to talk about.

He focused entirely on the road. At two in the morning, the car finally pulled up to Brooks's apartment complex.

Nelson quickly got out, grabbed the wheelchair from the trunk, and unfolded it.

He had thrown Brooks's old chair away and ordered his team to supply a top-tier collapsible one before they hit the road.

He practically hauled Brooks out of the backseat with brutal efficiency.

Unsurprisingly, it was the exact same rough treatment he used to throw him in.

Brooks violently shoved him away. "I can do it myself!"

Nelson stumbled back a few steps and let out a cold sneer. "If you weren't Juniper's brother, do you really think I'd give a damn about you? Get yourself up there, then. I'm not helping."

He turned to get back into the car, fully intending to take Juniper to a hotel for the night.

Sitting in his chair, Brooks looked directly at Juniper. "You can stay at my place. I have a spare room."

Juniper blinked, nodded, and stepped out of the car.

Nelson instantly slammed the door shut and jogged after them.
