Leo Saint looked up, offering her a bright, friendly smile. "When my grandmother stayed here before, I visited her twice. We saw each other from a distance back then. I didn't expect you to have such a good memory."
But Juniper Lane knew deep down that it absolutely hadn't been during that time.
From inside the room, the old lady called out to Leo.
"Coming, Grandmother," Leo replied, quickly setting the broom aside.
Juniper had to let the matter drop for now and followed him inside.
The house had been thoroughly cleaned, inside and out. Reggie had driven over as well and was currently busy preparing dinner.
They were using a traditional wood-fired stove. Juniper managed the fire, Reggie handled the cooking, and Leo chatted with his grandmother.
He seemed remarkably upbeat—at least, he gave off a completely different vibe compared to the rest of the Saint family. He even playfully wheedled his grandmother.
The old lady's light laughter drifted over, filled with fond resignation. "You. I tell you to join the company, and you refuse. I really don't know what you're busy with all day. We barely see each other a few times a year. The last time I saw you was two years ago."
"Grandmother, you know I don't like the corporate world. Besides, Nelson is doing a great job, isn't he? If I rashly joined the company, Arthur might think I had ulterior motives."
In a powerful family like theirs, genuine warmth was a rarity.
Arthur Saint's eldest son had two boys: Kieran and Nelson.
His second son, Julian Saint, had been laying low and biding his time for years. Julian also had two sons.
One of them held a key position within the company. As for the other, Leo, he spent his years fooling around outside, and no one knew exactly what he was up to.
Previously, when the Harrington family was selecting a marriage prospect for Elias Harrington, Yvonne had been worried that Cecilia's daughter might be chosen. This proved she wasn't just wary of Julian's family, but was also secretly suppressing Cecilia.
Currently, Cecilia's husband was struggling to gain ground within the Lawrence family. For Yvonne, this was a good thing.
If Leo actually joined the company at this critical juncture, it would spark a fresh wave of rumors in their circles.
In truth, the old lady wasn't particularly close to the younger generation of the Saint family. She had come here to recover from an illness, and even after returning, she rarely interacted with them.
