He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 1079

Irene never in her wildest dreams imagined that this report—the very document she had desperately destroyed and swapped out with a fake all those years ago—would end up in Yardley's hands! The color drained from her face, leaving her ghost-white. She stood frozen like a statue, her mouth hanging open, entirely speechless.

Yardley turned his gaze to Scarlett, his eyes filled with profound gratitude.

While everyone had been distracted by Scarlett and Dawn's arrival, Scarlett had secretly ordered her assistant to slip the report to Yardley inside the hall. During her years working at the Flynn Group, Scarlett had once overheard Franklin bragging to his associates. He had mentioned a doctor who suspected he was sterile, loudly boasting that the doctor was crazy and that he was perfectly healthy. To prove his virility, Franklin had gotten involved with Irene, quickly producing three children in a row.

Scarlett had a razor-sharp memory and had never forgotten the name of the doctor Franklin mentioned in passing. Taking a gamble, she tracked the doctor down and used her connections to pull the original, unaltered medical file, completely blowing the lid off the massive scam.

Franklin had been sterile long before those kids were born, which meant none of them belonged to the Flynn bloodline. With that revelation, Irene's entire justification for demanding an inheritance evaporated, proving she was nothing but a manipulative fraud. Thanks to this, Yardley was able to pull himself out of the PR nightmare she had created.

The fact that this report arrived at the absolute perfect moment proved that instead of kicking him while he was down, Scarlett had chosen to throw him a lifeline. How could he not be grateful?

At that moment, he wanted nothing more than to pull Scarlett into his arms and hold her tight, but he knew he no longer had the right. Instead, he took Dawn from Catherine's arms and pressed a firm, emotional kiss to his daughter's cheek. "Thank you, Dawn. Daddy thanks you."
