He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 1092

Scarlett looked up at him, her voice cold.

"Do you even deserve to be called a father?"

"A real father would never do what you've done—abandoning your wife and daughter when you were young, and now coming back to cause endless trouble in your old age. I am ashamed to have a father like you. Don't you feel the slightest bit of shame yourself?"

Sean choked on her words, then flew into a humiliating rage. He snatched up his lighter and snapped it on with a sharp click.

His expression twisted into something grotesque, and he let out a bitter sneer.

"Since you despise me so much, I'll just set myself on fire right now, and take this damn pagoda with me!"

"Nobody cares about my old bones anyway! I might as well just end it all!"

"My clothes are soaked in gasoline! Once I light myself up, I'll run inside and burn every ancient manuscript in there!"

As he shouted, the mountain wind blew, carrying the overpowering stench of gasoline straight to Scarlett.

She never imagined he could be this ruthless, crazy enough to actually set himself ablaze. He truly had no regard for his own life.

Her voice visibly panicked.

"You're out of your mind! Stop!"

Sean held the lit flame close, making a show of moving it toward himself. "Unless you pay off my debts! Buy me a house so I have somewhere to live out my days, and give me a monthly allowance of eight thousand—no, twenty thousand!"

"Otherwise, I'll light it right now and die along with this pagoda."

He was going all in, determined to use this opportunity to extort a massive sum from her.

Scarlett stared coldly at the man standing before her—the man she was supposed to call her father, yet who was the furthest thing from one. For a moment, a wave of indescribable complexity washed over her.

In her vague childhood memories, even though he was always busy, he had still shown some affection toward her and her brother.

Most of the dolls and blocks she loved as a kid had been bought by him.
