But now Gordon realized everyone had a blind spot. Yardley's current sheer inability to read the room was making Gordon question if his business sense was even real.
Julian had spelled it out as clearly as possible just now. Was Yardley genuinely that dense, or was he playing dumb?
Yes, Julian had asked him to look after his family out of trust, but hovering around another man's wife 24/7 during her postpartum recovery? That was miles over the line.
Yardley was still busy playing the victim.
"You guys saw the livestream today, right? Look, I admit my mom and the others were wrong to go after Scarlett like that."
"But they clearly walked right into Scarlett's trap. She played the victim, and then turned around and had drones broadcast the whole thing."
"And then she had her guys smack my mom and the others twice as hard. Now my mom, Sylvia, and my aunt are all lying in hospital beds."
"Even after all that, I didn't blame her. I swallowed my pride, went to find her, and tried to fix things. I even offered to give my daughter the ultra-expensive pink diamond I bought! And what did she do? She took the diamond and flat out refused to forgive me."
Harbour remained utterly speechless.
Was this the same Yardley Flynn who usually only discussed mergers and acquisitions and never aired his dirty laundry in public?
Right now, he sounded like a broken record complaining about the past.
The pedestal Harbour had put him on shattered completely. He wished he could turn invisible.
He had zero interest in getting tangled in this messy domestic drama, but walking out now would be a bad move. Instead, he just focused very intently on refilling glasses.
Gordon finally couldn't hold back a scoff.
"Have you ever stopped to think about why your mother and the other two felt so emboldened to go after Scarlett in the first place? At the end of the day, it's because you don't give a damn about her. They knew they could get away with it."
"The livestream was her fighting back. If she hadn't, would she be the only one sitting there like a helpless victim today."
"She had them smacked twice as hard? Let me be real with you. If I heard my mother had been ganged up on and humiliated like that, I wouldn't just hit them twice as hard. I'd probably kill someone."
"Since Julian gave you the truth, I'll give you mine. I didn't set up the livestream, so you can stop being paranoid about me and Scarlett."
"But I do like her. If you can't give her the happiness she deserves, let her go. Personally, I fully support you two getting a divorce so she can finally be free of this."
Having dropped that bombshell, Gordon turned on his heel and walked out.
