He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 141

She gripped Corinne's clothes pitifully, quickly wiping away her tears. "Aunt Corinne, what's wrong? Why are you so angry?"

Corinne trembled all over, utterly consumed by exasperation.

"My husband came home yesterday. I cooked dinner for him myself, and at the dining table, I listed out every single one of Scarlett's crimes."

"He was furious at first. He slammed the table and swore he would settle the score with her. But then, Clarissa suddenly showed up."

"No matter how many pointed looks I gave her, Clarissa still took Scarlett's side. She actually claimed that our entire family had mistreated Scarlett and her daughter."

"After hearing that, his attitude completely changed. He turned around, decided I had gone too far, and blamed me for everything that has happened recently."

Corinne finished ranting about the whole ordeal, cursing furiously as she paced the hospital room.

Seeing her in such a rage, Sylvia actually stopped crying. A sudden, calculating calmness washed over her.

"Aunt Corinne, we can't let this continue. Yardley already seems to be changing his mind about them. His attitude took a sudden shift last night."

"Now Clarissa is on her side. If your husband is won over by her too, I'll be fine, but your status in the Flynn family will be completely compromised."

"If Scarlett secures her status in the Flynn family, given the history you have with her mother, she definitely won't let you off the hook."

Corinne's gaze grew colder with every word. She abruptly shot to her feet.

"As long as I am around, that day will never come."

"Where is Yardley now? Are they in this hospital? Tell me which room, and I will drag him out myself."

A fleeting, barely detectable gleam of triumph flashed in Sylvia's eyes. She pointed toward the door.

"He's just down the hall, two doors to the left."

"Go quickly, Aunt Corinne. You absolutely cannot let them be alone together for too long. If his heart shifts back to them, everything we've worked for will be ruined."

Corinne's eyes blazed with a manic fury as she stormed out of the room like a hurricane.

"Be good, Dawn. Don't cry. Daddy is going to change your diaper, okay?"

Zara stood nearby, gently trying to intervene.

"Mr. Flynn, please, let me handle this."

Yardley shook his head. The gaze he kept fixed on his daughter was overflowing with deep, unspoken tenderness.

"Let me do it. I haven't changed her diaper yet."

"But do you know how, sir?"

"Yes, it's very simple. You just fasten the two sides tightly like this, and then give a gentle tug along the edges of the diaper, right?"

"You are amazing, sir. Look how cooperative Dawn is. She isn't crying at all. She's just staring right at you with her big eyes."

"Of course she is. She knows I'm her dad. Sweetheart, I'm your daddy. You know that, don't you?"
