Sylvia's expression instantly froze. She shrieked, "What?! Scarlett, you're despicable! Delete that right now! Delete it!"
Any trace of her fragile persona completely vanished. She lunged forward, clawing frantically to snatch the phone from Scarlett's hand. Her delicate face contorted into something vicious and arrogant.
"Scarlett, you can't beat me! Julian is madly in love with me, and Yardley can't live without me! You think someone like you can take me down? In your dreams!"
"Besides, I'm the heiress to The Stetson Family! So what if I'm adopted? My parents only have me! Crossing me means you're going to war with three powerful families all at once! Do you really think your low-life club-owning mother can save you? Think carefully!"
Sylvia seized Scarlett by the collar, her eyes sharp and venomous. "If you refuse to be my son's wet nurse, then get the hell out of Bay City! Within three days, I'll force Yardley to divorce you!"
"I'm giving you a chance. Don't throw it away. Now, give me the phone!" she hissed in a low whisper.
Scarlett didn't even blink. Her tone was dripping with derision. "Sylvia, you're awfully full of yourself."
Julian loved her, Yardley spoiled her, and The Stetson Family protected her. It was no wonder she acted like she was untouchable. Sylvia sneered triumphantly at Scarlett. "I have every right to be. But what about you? Your mother is a glorified pimp running a trashy nightclub, despised by every respectable woman in Bay City! And as for you, you joined The Flynn family, but they never accepted you! You didn't even get a wedding, did you?"
Scarlett could endure a lot of things, but the word 'pimp' instantly obliterated her breaking point.
Before Sylvia could even react, Scarlett struck. Tossing the exhausted, crying Caleb onto the bed, she grabbed a handful of Sylvia's hair and savagely yanked her down onto the floor.
