He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 192

Yardley cut him off coldly.

"Is that so? I thought you guys only had eyes for Julian and didn't consider me a friend anymore."

Gordon looked incredibly awkward. "...How could you say that, Yardley? Don't overthink it."

"I don't have the mood for drinks. Sylvia took a massive hit tonight. If she does something stupid, none of us will be able to live with ourselves."

"Julian, since you refuse to go after her, then as her cousin, I have to go check on her. Just because you don't care doesn't mean I don't!"

Yardley spoke with righteous indignation, sounding perfectly noble.

Scarlett found it grating and simply waved her hand dismissively.

"If you're going, then hurry up. If you wait any longer, your precious cousin might jump into a river, the ocean, or off a building, and end up dragging us into it."

Talia Gray waved her hand in agreement, impatiently urging him out, eager for Yardley—this absolute buzzkill—to leave.

"Go, go, stop ruining our vibe. Yardley, you're done here. Go chase after your cousin."

Julian picked up his glass, his smile still light and breezy.

"Come on, a toast to everyone. Thank you all for welcoming me back tonight."

Yardley stood frozen in place, feeling like an irrelevant piece of background scenery, completely shut out by all of them.

No one cared if he stayed or left.

And no one cared about Sylvia's safety.

In fact, it felt like everyone found him to be an eyesore, a nuisance they couldn't wait to be rid of.

Yardley's composure shattered completely.

In all his life, he had never been so isolated, so dismissed, so deeply disrespected.

He clenched his fists tightly, his gaze sweeping over everyone in the room before finally locking onto Scarlett. His eyes were particularly icy.

They weren't divorced yet. She was still his wife.

The thought fueled Yardley as he lunged forward, roughly grabbing Scarlett by the wrist.

Before Scarlett could even process what was happening, Yardley hoisted her right over his shoulder without a single word.

Caught completely off guard, Scarlett thrashed wildly.

"Yardley, what the hell are you doing? Put me down!"

She was a million times unwilling to leave with him, but she didn't want her personal drama to drag Julian or anyone else in the room down.

"It's fine, I'll go with him."

"I'd actually like to see what exactly Yardley thinks he's going to do."

"But consider this a warning. Even though we're still legally married, if you try to force me to do a single thing against my will, I will burn everything to the ground. Try me!"

Furious beyond reason, Yardley wasn't even listening to her threats.

Without another word, he hauled Scarlett out of the Firebrand Grill, marching away with long, aggressive strides.

He carried her all the way to the car and tossed her inside.

She fought back hard, trying to use the momentum to grab the door handle and escape.

But Yardley had anticipated it. He instantly pinned both her hands, trapping her wrists above her head.

A second later, he crashed his mouth against hers. It was a domineering, punishing kiss that left Scarlett with nowhere to hide and no way to escape.

A sharp spike of pain radiated from her lips, followed by the metallic taste of blood flooding her mouth.

The man had actually bitten her lip hard, and the salty, wet taste overwhelmed her senses—
