"A new car?"
Scarlett's heart gave a wild thump, so surprised she almost stopped breathing.
Her little car had been with her for seven years. She bought it with her very first paycheck out of college, and it was definitely starting to show its age.
She vividly remembered the sheer embarrassment of the car breaking down in the middle of the road while Julian was driving it. Her face had burned as she mumbled something about "getting a new car soon."
Did... Julian actually listen? And did he tell her brother?
The thought sent a rush of warmth through her chest. Thrilled, she grabbed her mother's arm.
"Mom, let's go look!"
The mother and daughter hurried downstairs. From a distance, they spotted a stunning, pristine white Maserati GranTurismo parked quietly on the street, looking like a flawless piece of art.
This specific car had been Scarlett's dream for years.
She had quietly tracked every single update to the model, planning to buy it for her thirtieth birthday as a gift to herself.
She never imagined the surprise would drop out of the sky like this.
"Stellan, how did you know I loved this model? Did you pick it, or did my brother?"
She practically sprinted to the car, eagerly pulling the door open.
When she saw the interior was the exact burnt orange she obsessed over, her eyes widened in pure delight, and she couldn't help but ask.
Stellan offered a polite smile.
"Neither of us. It was Mr. Croft's recommendation to your brother. He said the car's aura suited you perfectly and that you would definitely love it. Also, it's a 30th-anniversary limited edition—the only one in the world. Your brother specifically used Mr. Croft's connections to secure it."
Scarlett froze.
So Julian and her brother had been plotting this behind her back the whole time.
And yet, over the last few days, as they sat together discussing projects, he hadn't breathed a word of it. He was a steel trap.
This guy really knew how to keep a secret.
Scarlett marveled silently, but the overwhelming joy of owning her dream car quickly washed away any lingering questions.
