Melanie and Sylvia turned a ghastly shade of white.
Sprawled on the floor, Melanie's face contorted in disbelief as she stared at Scarlett's retreating back. In her mind, Scarlett had always been the meek, obedient wife they could push around without consequence. How had she become so utterly ruthless?
And MR International Security? Melanie had heard of them during her travels abroad. They were legendary, possessing immense power and deep-rooted connections. Yet, this man—the supposed CEO—was taking orders directly from Scarlett?
How did she suddenly wield this kind of power? Who was backing her?
Gritting her teeth, Melanie painfully dragged herself up from the floor. Scarlett, Stellan, and Talia had already vanished with their men.
Seeing Sylvia still crumpled on the carpet, Melanie grabbed her roughly by the arm and shoved her. "Why didn't you warn me she was this dangerous?! Now we're both going to end up in a cell with a target on our backs! You are completely useless, Sylvia!"
Melanie directed all her panic and fury at the other woman.
Sylvia stumbled back, collapsing onto the sofa. Her eyes burned with a venomous, bone-deep hatred. "It's Julian! It has to be Julian! No one else has the money or the power to back her like this!"
She dug her nails into the upholstery. "I can't believe my own husband was snatched right out from under me by that bitch! And now he's practically working as her attack dog! I hate her! I'm going to rip her apart and get my husband back!"
