He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 328

It was glaringly obvious now. Yardley was dead set on dragging out the divorce, delusional enough to think they could fix their marriage, and determined to force Dawn back into his life.

He was living in an absolute fantasy.

But there was no way in hell she was going to let him win.

Completely wired, Scarlett paced the floor of the bedroom.

Once she managed to steady her breathing, she pulled out her phone and dialed Stellan. "Stellan, I've got bad news..."

Stellan's heart instantly leaped into his throat. "What happened, Ms. Langley?"

"Yardley is blackmailing me with old videos and photos of my mother. I'm forced to stay at Orchard Villa for now. He's demanding I bring my daughter back, and he's only given me three days."

Stellan's brow furrowed aggressively. "Do you need me to bring the team? I can be there in—"

"No!" Scarlett cut him off. "He has serious leverage right now; brute force won't work. I have to play along for a few days. I need you to dig up absolutely everything you can find on the Flynn family. Dig deep. The bigger the scandal, the better."

"I need leverage of my own to keep him in check, or he'll just keep using my mother against me. If that happens, I'll never get this divorce, and I'll be trapped. I'm counting on you, buddy."

That last word sent Stellan's usually ice-cold blood rushing hot through his veins. His voice deepened. "Understood. But three days might not be enough. I need time to set this up."

Scarlett's tone grew urgent. "How much time?"

"He only gave me a three-day grace period before he expects my daughter back here. I cannot let him anywhere near her!"

Stellan paused. "...I need at least a week. I'm sorry, Ms. Langley. I'll move as fast as I can."

A week... She could probably find a way to stall Yardley until then.

Scarlett took a deep breath. "Alright. Everything is riding on this. Stellan, whether I finally get my freedom or not is entirely in your hands."

Stellan's adrenaline surged even higher. "Yes, ma'am. It's a privilege to work for you."
