He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 351

Scarlett lowered her gaze to Talia's phone screen.

In the video, Sylvia was draped in an obnoxiously elaborate pink ball gown, a glittering tiara perched on her head. She looked completely full of herself, clinging to the arm of a middle-aged man outside the adjacent banquet hall.

Her face was lit up with a blinding, triumphant smile, looking as if she had the entire world at her feet.

Scarlett recognized the man instantly.

It was none other than Craig Schmidt, the president of Schmidt Properties—one of Croft Design Studio's major clients.

Why were those two acting so close?

Scarlett frowned, her eyes trailing down to the massive welcome sign behind them. The bold letters read: "Family Reunion Gala."

For a second, the blood froze in her veins. Then, a faint, cold smirk touched her lips.

"Talia... are you telling me Sylvia is the guest of honor next door?"

"Is Craig Schmidt her biological father?"

Talia nodded so hard her hair bounced, her teeth gritted.

"Yes! I never saw this coming either!"

"That woman's luck is seriously infuriating! She grew up rich with the Stetsons, was practically raised by the Flynns, married Julian, and now, even after her divorce, she somehow manages to find a billionaire bio-dad! How does she get all the breaks? Talk about pure, dumb luck!"

Talia spat in sheer frustration.

Scarlett was just as surprised.

Sylvia really had been dealt a golden hand in life. Despite a few bumps in the road, the universe clearly favored her.

It was just a shame she kept playing that hand so terribly.

What difference did a rich father make now? With Sylvia's shallow, impulsive nature, Scarlett was certain that even if God Himself came down to help her, she'd still find a way to ruin it.

A second later, the explosively loud, cheesy folk song blasted through the ballroom, its piercing brass and upbeat lyrics instantly echoing into the hallway.

At the entrance of the adjacent hall, Sylvia was smiling brightly, helping Craig welcome their guests.

Craig had pulled out all the stops for this reunion gala, making Sylvia feel incredibly validated.

Just as she was basking in the glory, the deafeningly tacky music blasted through the walls.

Sylvia’s smile vanished. She slapped her hands over her ears in disgust.

"Oh my god, what century are we in? Who still plays such tasteless trash?"

Craig kept his polite smile, but the noise was undeniable. He was thrilled to have his daughter back, but this racket was definitely ruining the classy vibe.

"It is a bit loud. I'll have someone go over and speak to them."
