Realizing they had lost control, the two kidnappers exploded with violent rage. They leaped out of the van, lunging to drag Scarlett and Talia back inside.
"Please! Help us! They're trying to kidnap us! Call the cops!" Scarlett shrieked.
Seeing the desperation in her eyes, a few brave drivers and station employees rushed over to intervene.
But before anyone could reach them, the kidnappers pulled out handguns.
The matte-black barrels glinted under the harsh fluorescent lights of the canopy.
"Nobody move! Stay back!" the driver roared, his face twisted in a feral snarl. "This is my girlfriend! It's a domestic dispute! Anyone tries to play hero gets a bullet in the head!"
The sight of the weapons sent a shockwave of terror through the onlookers. The crowd immediately backed away, raising their hands.
Scarlett opened her mouth to scream again, but the cold muzzle of a pistol was suddenly jammed hard against her temple.
"Shut your mouth, bitch!" the man hissed. "One more word and I'll blow your brains out right here! You ruined everything!"
Cursing violently, he drove his heavy boot directly into her stomach.
Scarlett gasped, curling into a tight ball as excruciating pain radiated through her core. Cold sweat broke out across her forehead.
With no one left willing to risk their lives to help, the men roughly dragged her back into the van.
They shoved a filthy rag into her mouth and used heavy rope to tightly bind her wrists and ankles.
The driver slammed the van into gear and peeled out of the gas station, tearing down the road like a bat out of hell.
The other man frantically dialed their boss. "Boss, we... we got a situation. The bitch has a high tolerance. She woke up and screamed for help at a gas station. A lot of people saw. What do we do? If someone called the cops—"
"You useless pieces of trash!" the voice roared. "You can't even handle one woman?! The police will be swarming the area! Don't bring her to the warehouse, you'll lead them right to us! Find a ditch and finish her off right there!"
