Veronica confidently patted Yardley's shoulder. "Just trust me. With an arrogant woman like her, the only way to make her realize who her savior is, is to let her taste hell first."
Yardley didn't give a final nod. He needed to think long and hard about whether to deal such a fatal blow to Scarlett.
-
At the end of the hallway.
Scarlett Langley's face was cold. Cursing Yardley out hadn't brought her any satisfaction; instead, a profound exhaustion washed over her.
She was sick and tired of this endless, draining back-and-forth.
She just wanted to be free.
There were only two days left before the mandatory waiting period before finalization of divorce in this country was finally over.
Once she survived these two days, she could sever all ties with Yardley forever. They would go their separate ways and never cross paths again.
Only the thought of this brought a long-lost sense of relief to her battered heart.
Beside her, Talia Gray was still fuming, pacing like an angry little tiger. "Yardley is the ultimate trash of a man! Grabbing some random woman to kiss outside your hospital room just to make you sick?"
"Only he could come up with such a cheap, pathetic stunt! Does he really think you still care enough to get jealous over his garbage?"
"Ugh! He needs a serious reality check. Who does he think he is?"
Scarlett’s lips twitched in a self-deprecating smile. "Sometimes I wonder what kind of spell I was under to love him so desperately."
"When the rose-colored glasses come off, you realize they're all the same. Strip away the shiny exterior, and underneath, it's just immature, ridiculous, and utterly boring."
Talia poked Scarlett's forehead, wishing she could knock some more sense into her. "That's because you're finally awake and seeing things clearly! Back then, you treated him like a god. If I said one bad thing about him, you'd bite my head off—"
