After Elara's declaration, she waved her hand dramatically, looking every bit like a fierce female general riding off to war.
"Pfft!"
Julian stared at his mother in utter shock, spitting out the mouthful of soup he had just taken.
"Mom, you've maintained your elegant reputation your entire life. Are you really throwing it all away in your golden years?"
"Exactly!"
Elara nodded emphatically, letting out a spirited shout.
"I've watched everything Scarlett has done recently!"
"Being a dignified, polite woman gets you compliments, but it feels absolutely miserable!"
"I'm retired anyway. From now on, I'm going to be just like Scarlett—taking out anyone who gets in my way! I'm throwing all my titles and baggage out the window. I want to go crazy, vent my anger, and unleash hell!"
"Why should the Crofts be the Flynns' and Stetsons' designated victims? I am going to make them choke on every single penny they squeezed out of us!"
Scarlett's heart ignited. She immediately stood up and cheered in agreement.
"Yes! Justice might be delayed, but it will never be denied!"
"Welcome to the team! Let's tear them apart together!"
Elara smiled, her eyes practically sparkling with a dreamy light.
"Don't call me Mrs. Croft—call me Sis! From now on, we're sworn sisters. We'll fight our enemies together and march into the future. You and I are officially a duo. We'll call ourselves the Fury Sisterhood!"
"Sis!"
"Little Sis!"
Thrilled, Scarlett grabbed Elara's hands and shook them firmly.
As their eyes met, a rising flame of sisterhood sparked between them.
Julian stood frozen in place, staring at the newly minted "Fury Sisterhood" duo, absolutely dumbfounded.
His expression was complicated.
"Mom, if Scarlett calls you Sis, what exactly am I supposed to call her?"
Julian stood rooted to the spot for a long time before he finally processed what had just happened. Some miraculous chemical reaction had occurred between his mother and Scarlett, causing his usually poised, public-facing mother to undergo a complete mutation.
A deeply ominous feeling washed over him.
He quickly pulled out his phone and dialed Dominic Croft. "Dad. Mom and your prized designer just swore sisterhood."
Dominic's voice went up an octave. "What?"
Julian rubbed his temples, moving the phone away from his ear to avoid deafness.
"Mom came to drop off some food. They started talking about my marriage, the wedding gifts, and then she heard about how Scarlett was treated by the Flynns. They instantly clicked, formed the 'Fury Sisterhood,' and vowed to get revenge on the Flynns and Stetsons."
"Right now, they're on their way to a bar. You need to call Mom and intercept her, or else... I'm really worried about what they might do once they start drinking."
Julian summarized the cause, the climax, and the catastrophic potential consequences as fast as he could.
There was a long silence on the other end of the line. Finally, Dominic spoke, his voice heavy.
"Don't stop her. Let your mother explode. If she doesn't, she's going to sink into a depression."
"She looks fine on the surface, but ever since your divorce, your mom hasn't been able to sleep. She relies on melatonin almost every night. I woke up in the middle of the night once and found her looking at pictures of little Caleb, just crying her eyes out."
