He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 464

Yardley fell silent.

After everything that had transpired, he felt an instinctive, bone-deep revulsion toward Sylvia. He wanted absolutely nothing to do with her drama anymore.

But he couldn't completely cut her off. Years ago, on the night she had tried to sneak into his bed and orchestrate a compromising situation, his mother had revealed a shocking family secret. From that day forward, whatever lingering teenage infatuation he might have harbored evaporated, replaced by a strict, platonic sense of fraternal duty.

He had watched her grow up. No matter how low she sank or how twisted she had become, completely abandoning her wasn’t in his nature.

Rubbing his temples, he finally relented. "When are you planning to go?"

"He’s waiting for me now. The sooner, the better. If I let him sit with his anger too long, it’s only going to get worse."

Yardley glanced at his watch. It was just past two in the afternoon. The drive back to Bay City would take at least an hour.

"Set up a dinner with him," he decided, resigned to stepping into the line of fire for her one last time. "Tell him I’ll explain everything in person tonight."

Sylvia's voice lit up with relief. "I knew it! I knew I was still the most important person to you!"

He didn't bother replying and just ended the call.
