Clarissa's eyes instantly welled up with tears. She was in absolute disbelief, her emotions surging out of control.
Melanie glared at her, exasperated by her sister's reaction, her eyes narrowing with vicious intensity.
"Clarissa, I think you're out of your mind! You and Yardley are both sick in the head!"
"Scarlett is a jinx, and that little bastard is a curse! Her being born has turned this whole family completely upside down!"
"Mom is still locked up! If we don't figure out a way to get her out, Dad is seriously going to divorce her and marry Irene. If that happens, the rest of our lives will be ruined!"
"Can you just use your brains for once? I can't stand it. How are you and Yardley both this stupid?!"
Melanie paced furiously around the living room, screaming like a lunatic.
Clarissa blinked back her tears. She thought about what Melanie had said, and realized her sister wasn't entirely wrong...
But still, that was a child of the Flynn family. She was so young, yet she had been diagnosed with such a terrible illness.
As her aunt, she simply couldn't stoop to Melanie's level and be so heartless. She couldn't bring herself to convince her brother to walk away and get a divorce at a time like this.
After all, one thing had nothing to do with the other. How could they blame everything that had happened to the family on a baby being born?!
Clarissa fundamentally disagreed with Melanie's perspective. Shaking her head, she didn't bother arguing anymore and turned to leave.
As soon as she got into her car, she dialed Yardley's number.
"Yardley, where are you right now? I heard Dawn was diagnosed with leukemia?"
Yardley's voice was low and heavy.
"Yeah. I'm in Sutton City right now. Dawn is admitted at Mercy International Hospital, and I'm planning to go see her."
Hearing this, Clarissa spoke decisively.
"Wait for me there. I'm going to head over and see her too."
"Yardley, with everything going on right now, put any talk of divorce on hold. The child's life is what matters most—"
