Scarlett suddenly felt a wave of embarrassment. "But wouldn't that be too much of an imposition on your parents? Maybe I should have Stellan..."
Julian shook his head decisively. "It's not an imposition at all. They adore Dawn, and they have plenty of experience with kids. You can trust them completely."
"Besides, with everything blowing up in Bay City right now, we need Stellan's help. He has to stay here with us."
A profound sense of gratitude washed over Scarlett, leaving her momentarily speechless.
The unwavering support Julian and his parents had shown her stood in stark contrast to the cold-blooded cruelty of the Flynn family. Truthfully, she and Julian weren't even family. What had she ever done to deserve the Crofts going to such extraordinary lengths for her?
"But..."
Scarlett felt as though she owed them a debt she could never repay. She struggled to find the words to express her thanks.
Julian seemed to read her mind. He gave her shoulder a reassuring pat. "No 'buts.' Haven't you and my mom practically become sisters? If family doesn't step up in a crisis, when will they?"
"Let's not waste any more time. I'll call her right now, and then we'll head straight to Bay City while they make their way here."
Without waiting for an argument, Julian pulled out his phone and dialed Elara.
Elara had been getting ready for bed, but the moment she heard the situation, she agreed without a second thought. She told him to pass a message to Scarlett: focus on saving her mother, and leave Dawn entirely in their care.
Scarlett took the phone, profusely thanking the older woman before hanging up.
Before they left, Julian arranged for the hospital to beef up security around Dawn's room, transferring the baby to the pediatric ward's highest-security suite to ensure the Flynns wouldn't cause any more trouble.
With that settled, the two of them immediately hit the road for Bay City.
