In a Bay City holding cell.
Melanie Flynn and Sylvia Stetson were locked up with a gang of young, hot-tempered juvenile delinquents.
These aggressive, heavily tattooed tough girls made life a living hell for the two former high-society women in just a matter of days. The gang was used to causing trouble and had been in and out of lockup so many times that they practically owned the place.
Melanie and Sylvia's usual manipulative tactics were utterly useless against them. To the gang, the two wealthy women were nothing but prime targets for bullying.
"Hey, you two cowards, go fetch some water so I can soak my feet!"
A delinquent with bleached blonde hair chewed her gum loudly, kicking the metal frame of the bunk bed impatiently.
Her two sidekicks, sporting red and green hair respectively, immediately marched over and kicked Sylvia and Melanie hard.
At first, the two women had tried to fight back, but they were no match for these vicious girls. The guards only intervened when they were practically beaten half to death. After a few rounds of this, Melanie and Sylvia were completely broken.
The bullies subjected them to all sorts of sick pranks—putting cockroaches and rats in their beds, relieving themselves on their blankets... and even worse humiliations.
Neither of them had ever suffered like this. To avoid more beatings, they had become totally subservient, doing exactly as they were told.
During their days in the holding cell, they had learned the true meaning of hopelessness. Their proud family backgrounds and wealth were nothing but jokes in here.
What drove them to sheer despair was the fact that so much time had passed, and no one had come to save them.
Melanie couldn't believe it. She was the third daughter of the prestigious Flynn family, and Sylvia was tied to both the Stetson and Schmidt families. Why hadn't any of their families bailed them out? Had they been abandoned?
A deep wave of panic washed over her. Just as she thought playing dead in the corner would spare her, the bullies—having had their fill of torturing Sylvia—turned their malicious gazes toward her.
