Thunderous applause rolled through the venue.
Scarlett Langley and Julian Croft both clapped enthusiastically.
Amidst the ovation, Scarlett suddenly noticed that Sylvia Stetson had appeared at the gala. Sylvia was standing by the stairs on the right side of the stage, gripping the fabric of her elegant gown, her face flushed with visible excitement. She looked as though she had already been informed that the gold award belonged to her.
Scarlett was taken aback. When did Sylvia even enter the competition?
If Sylvia's design truly won the Pillar of Eternity Gold Award, Scarlett would have to completely reassess her.
Scarlett turned to Julian and noticed he was looking in the exact same direction, wearing a similarly surprised expression.
Scarlett offered a faint smile. "Julian, does Sylvia actually know anything about architectural design?"
"She graduated with a degree in it," Julian replied evenly. "I heard she won a few minor awards back in college, but when we were married, I never once saw her produce a decent piece of work."
Scarlett let out a thoughtful, "Oh."
Her impression of Sylvia had always been that she was petty and unrefined. She'd assumed the woman was entirely uneducated, but now, she had to admit she was surprised. Was Sylvia secretly harboring some hidden talent? If so, Scarlett would definitely need to study whatever masterpiece had earned her this prestigious award.
