"But my eye keeps twitching. Is there any chance something could go wrong?"
Kane practically thumped his chest through the phone.
"Are you doubting me? Relax. Once anyone steps foot in Tyrellia, they are in my domain.
"Not even a mosquito could fly out of here without my permission, let alone—"
Before Kane could finish his brag, a panicked voice suddenly cut through his end of the line.
"Kane! Bad news!"
Kane scowled. "What bad news? Speak clearly!"
"That woman landed at the Tyrellia airport, but she instantly blocked all our contact numbers! We can't track her phone, and we didn't see her come through the exit! What do we do?"
The panicked report echoed loudly enough for Sylvia to hear it perfectly.
Her rage ignited instantly, her voice shrieking through the receiver.
"What do you mean she got away?!
"Kane, you guaranteed me this was foolproof! How the hell did you lose her?!"
"Don't yell at me yet!" Kane snapped, equally shocked and furious. "I'm going to find out exactly what went wrong! I'll call you back!"
Kane slammed the phone down. Surging to his feet, he violently flipped the coffee table, sending glass and liquor crashing to the floor.
He backhanded the subordinate who brought the news, the sickening crack echoing through the room.
"What the hell are your men doing?! The target is physically inside Tyrellia, and you let her slip away?!
"Get on the phone right now! Contact airport security! Tell them to hand her over immediately, or they know exactly what I'll do to them!"
Kane was absolutely livid.
He had just finished bragging to the woman he wanted to impress, only to have the situation blow up in his face seconds later.
