Startled, Scarlett yanked Julian's phone from his hand to look at the picture.
Her heart nearly leaped out of her chest!
The man in the photo sent by Julian's friend was practically skin and bones. He was the furthest thing from stocky!
That meant someone had already caught wind of their plan and managed to swap the real Neil out in a matter of minutes.
It was terrifying—and almost unfathomable!
The sheer danger of the situation left Scarlett and Julian staring at each other in horrified realization.
At that exact moment, a chaotic scuffle erupted over the line on Talia's end. A second later, the call went dead.
Scarlett redialed frantically, but it went straight to voicemail.
Pure panic set in!
Realizing that Talia had likely been captured, Scarlett's legs gave out, and she collapsed onto the floor.
Even the usually composed Julian felt a cold sweat break out on his forehead. "Scarlett, don't panic. I'll figure something out."
"What else is there to figure out?!" Scarlett cried, her voice cracking. "Julian, think of something! We can't let anything happen to her. We absolutely cannot!"
Julian replied firmly, "I know. I'm calling Chatwin Wyatt right now. He handles international cases in Tyrellia all the time. He should have connections there."
Without missing a beat, Julian pulled out his phone and dialed Chatwin's number.
Scarlett immediately thought of her own brother. She pulled her phone back out and dialed him.
It was daytime where they were, meaning it was the dead of night in Country A where her brother was stationed. Yet, he picked up almost instantly.
