At the thought of his daughter, a wave of tenderness washed over Yardley, closely followed by a sharp pang of longing.
According to the terms of the divorce settlement, he was entitled to visit Dawn once a month.
Yardley did the math in his head.
Time really flew. It had already been nearly a month since the divorce was finalized...
He pulled out his phone and dialed Chatwin's number.
Scarlett absolutely refused to speak to him directly. She routed all communication regarding their divorce and visitation rights through her lawyer.
It was infuriating, but Yardley had no other choice.
Swallowing his irritation, he got straight to the point the second the call connected.
"Mr. Wyatt. Tell Scarlett that per the agreement, I intend to visit Dawn today. Ask her if the timing works."
Chatwin's lazy drawl drifted through the speaker.
"Scarlett, your ex-husband says he wants to see his daughter. He's asking if it's a good time."
Chatwin and Scarlett were currently hanging out in Gordon's hospital room.
Driven by guilt over the accident, Scarlett had voluntarily covered all of Gordon's medical and rehabilitation expenses. Most of his injuries had healed nicely, though his fractured bones still needed more time.
Without even looking up from what she was doing, Scarlett replied dryly.
"Tell him to go to the Magnolia Villa this afternoon. I'll be home. He can come by anytime after 2:00 PM."
Chatwin's tone dripped with amusement as he relayed the message.
"Hear that, ex-husband? Scarlett says she'll be at the Magnolia Villa after 2:00 PM. Show up if you want."
The phrase "ex-husband" felt like a needle plunging straight into Yardley's chest.
After a heavy, suffocating silence, he forced his voice to remain perfectly level.
"Fine. I'll be there at two o'clock sharp."
He was wearing a perfectly tailored, dark pinstripe suit layered over a black silk dress shirt with the collar slightly unbuttoned. With one hand casually tucked into his pocket and a sharp, composed expression on his face, he looked completely different from the broken man he had been a few weeks ago.
He radiated the same overwhelming, untouchable aura that had captivated her when they first met.
However, the suit—which had once fit him flawlessly—hung just a fraction looser on his frame.
His handsome face was noticeably leaner, making his sharp jawline and striking features look even more pronounced and chiseled.
Scarlett froze for a few seconds, unable to stop herself from staring.
Somehow, he looked even more attractive than he had recently. It was glaringly obvious that he had put a significant amount of effort into his appearance today.
"Is the baby awake?"
Catching the way Scarlett was looking at him, a thrill of quiet satisfaction flared in Yardley's chest.
Keeping his expression carefully neutral, he kept one hand in his pocket and confidently stepped inside.
