Scarlett looked down her nose at Sylvia, a faint, mocking smirk playing on her lips.
"What's the matter? Disappointed?"
Corinne finally snapped out of her shock, letting out an ear-piercing shriek.
"Scarlett, you... you're alive! You're actually alive?!"
"Thankfully, yes. If I were actually dead, the Flynn family would have picked my bones clean by now, wouldn't they?" Scarlett slowly turned her gaze to Corinne, her eyes as cold as ice.
Corinne was physically trembling. Her fingers dug so hard into the armrest of her chair that her nails nearly splintered the wood.
"You... you faked it!"
"What are you trying to pull?! The authorities in Country A specifically said—"
"Said that Julian and I fell into the ocean and were swept away?" Scarlett seamlessly cut her off, her gaze sweeping over the horrified Flynn women before finally landing on Yardley.
Yardley's face was ashen. His lips parted, but no sound came out. He stared at her, a chaotic storm of shock, disbelief, and a desperate kind of joy warring in his eyes.
"Unfortunately for you, we didn't grant your wish."
"We did fall into the ocean, yes. But it seems heaven wasn't quite ready for us. We survived."
