Yardley had some self-defense training, but Kane had a massive advantage in numbers, with at least a dozen thugs swarming him.
At first, Yardley managed to hold the upper hand, but as more men surrounded him, his energy began to drain rapidly.
Hearing Sylvia's relentless screams from upstairs, Yardley's heart felt as though it were being ripped to shreds.
Through gritted teeth, he fought desperately against the mob, continuously trying to force his way up the stairs.
Yet every time he lunged forward, they ruthlessly yanked him back down.
A full half-hour had passed, and he still had no idea what horrifying ordeal Sylvia was going through upstairs.
Her cries, each more agonizing than the last, tore at his sanity.
Just as he was pushed to the absolute brink of despair, the villa doors swung open—Scarlett and Julian had finally arrived!
The first thing Scarlett saw was Yardley being ganged up on by a group of tattooed thugs. His suit was slashed by sharp blades, his shirt buttons ripped open, and his hands, arms, and legs were stained with patches of blood. He looked completely battered and broken.
In Scarlett’s memory, Yardley had always been impeccable, maintaining a flawless image and perfectly tailored attire in any setting.
This was the first time she had ever seen him in such a pathetic, desperate state.
"What do you think you're doing?!"
"Bay City is a place of law and order, not a playground for street thugs to run wild!"
"We called the cops half an hour ago! They'll be here any minute! All of you, stop right now!"
Julian’s voice boomed across the room as he glared at the men.
Instantly, the thugs froze, exchanging uncertain glances as they sized up the well-dressed couple standing in the doorway.
Julian's eyes quickly locked onto Moe—the insider he had bought off earlier.
Subtly, Julian shot him a look.
Catching the hint, Moe immediately started shouting, "The cops are on their way! We'd better stop fighting and warn the boss so we can slip out early! If we wait any longer, we'll be trapped!"
After throwing out his vicious threat, Kane jerked his head toward his men.
"The cops are almost here. Let's move!"
The moment the words left his mouth, he picked up his pace. Before the others could fully react, he was already sprinting out of Sylvia's villa.
Seeing Kane bolt, the remaining thugs immediately panicked and swarmed out of the house in a chaotic rush.
Scarlett and Julian exchanged a knowing look. Neither of them made a move to chase after them.
After all, Kane’s release was orchestrated from the top to use him as bait. Even if they called the cops, the police would just go through the motions for now. They wouldn't take any real action against Kane just yet.
Seeing that Kane was finally gone, Yardley didn't even stop to thank Scarlett or Julian. He frantically scrambled toward the second-floor bedroom.
The moment he pushed the door open, the sheer chaos of the scene struck him with such force that it left him utterly stunned.
He couldn't believe what his own eyes were seeing.
