He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 1009

Solomon Lynch pushed through the double doors, stripping off his surgical mask.

Helena sprinted over to him instantly. "Doctor, is she okay?!"

"Her vitals are stable. Don't panic. It was just a massive spike in adrenaline," Solomon answered bluntly.

A suffocating wave of relief washed over her.

"But as for her mental state, we won't know the extent of the damage until she wakes up," he added grimly.

Extreme shock rarely just affected the physical body; the psychological fallout was often far worse.

The real danger was the devastating blow to her fragile psyche. That was always the hardest part to treat.

Julian understood perfectly.

He gave a solemn nod of acknowledgment.

"I'll be on call in the building," Solomon offered casually. "Page me the second anything changes."

He wasn't staying out of the goodness of his heart; Sebastian had explicitly ordered him not to leave.

Otherwise, he would have been halfway back to his conference by now.

"Thank you," Julian replied graciously, ignoring the doctor's obvious allegiance.

Solomon merely hummed and walked away.

Skye was wheeled out of recovery and transferred directly to the VIP Ward.

Helena and Julian hurried after the stretcher.

On the surface, Helena looked completely composed, but Julian could see the terrifying tension vibrating beneath her skin.

She was wound so tight she looked ready to snap in half at the slightest provocation.

It was a deeply unstable, incredibly dangerous state of mind.

"It's fine. Solomon said she'll wake up shortly," Julian murmured softly.

Helena didn't reply.

They followed the nurses into the sprawling private suite.

Skye was still deep in a sedated sleep.

Helena pulled up a chair and waited silently.

Knowing nothing he said would ease her anxiety, Julian settled onto the couch and kept quiet.

The child's sleep lasted far longer than any of them anticipated.

With every passing hour, Helena's anxiety spiked higher and higher.

Solomon stopped by to check the monitors, frowning slightly.

"Physically, the sedatives have worn off. But waking up relies heavily on the patient's own subconscious will," he explained bluntly.

Helena's heart plummeted into her stomach.
