With a dark chuckle, Sebastian yanked Helena right back.
If there had been even a shred of gentleness in him before, it was completely eradicated now.
He shoved her face-down into the pillows.
The down feathers were supposed to be soft, but right now, they felt like a lethal trap.
"Mmph-" Her voice was entirely muffled, reduced to barely audible whimpers.
Instinct took over; she thrashed wildly, desperate not to suffocate.
But her struggles only earned her a harsher punishment from the man above her.
She fought back, but under his overwhelming dominance, her strength slowly ebbed away.
And through it all, Sebastian was still listening to Janetta chatter on the phone.
"Seb, I've been thinking about what to wear tomorrow. I'm so worried the reporters and fans might notice I'm pregnant. Could you give me some advice?"
"Oh, right! I'm planning to wear The Zurich Sapphires you gifted me. I think they'd look absolutely stunning paired with a white dress."
Unbothered by his silence, Janetta kept babbling in her sweet, airy tone.
Even through the phone's speaker, Helena could hear the saccharine softness in her voice.
It was the kind of helpless, adoring tone most men found utterly irresistible.
Because Helena's mind was racing with thoughts of Janetta, her focus slipped.
Sebastian noticed her distraction instantly.
His eyes darkened further.
Without warning, he twisted his hand into her hair and pulled her head back.
The sheer force of it forced a sharp cry from her lips.
But in the next second, her face was shoved right back into the pillow, silencing her completely.
The torment was whiplash, a sudden, suffocating plunge into hell just as she grasped for air.
On the other end of the line, Janetta abruptly fell silent.
If she hadn't noticed anything before, she had definitely heard that.
She had heard Helena's scream.
Yet, even faced with such a damning sound, Janetta didn't lose her temper. Instead, her sweet tone morphed into one of pure, wounded vulnerability.
