He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 241

The atmosphere suddenly became suffocatingly tense.

Helena Wallace frowned slightly and glanced at Julian Campbell, as if trying to send him a subtle warning.

But Julian completely ignored it.

After a long, stretching silence, Sebastian Hayes finally spoke, his demeanor still cool and unhurried.

"Mr. Campbell must be mistaken. My only wife is Helena. Ms. Ramirez is just the spokesperson for Hayes Properties, so it's not exactly strange for us to be seen coming and going together," Sebastian stated flatly.

Julian gave a dismissive, perfunctory, "Oh."

Then his gaze shifted back to Helena, and he proactively asked, "Mrs. Hayes, is that true?"

Helena felt a spike of awkwardness.

She gave Julian a nearly imperceptible shake of her head.

She was begging him not to cause a scene.

Julian decided to give her a break and dropped the subject.

He smiled easily. "Fair enough. I'll have to invite Mr. Hayes out for a round of golf sometime soon."

"Anytime," Sebastian replied coolly.

Julian nodded in acknowledgment, turned to speak to the person beside him, and the two walked away.

But just before he disappeared, he shot one last glance at Helena out of the corner of his eye.

Helena was looking right back at him.

It was a visible look of sheer relief.

She had been genuinely terrified that Julian would lose his temper and escalate the situation.

Naturally, Sebastian didn't miss a second of their silent exchange.

But on the surface, he remained an unreadable stone wall.

He didn't bother exposing the thick undercurrent of tension between them.

As a man, he could clearly sense that Julian treated Helena differently than anyone else.

And Julian's blatant provocation earlier? That had obviously been for Helena's sake.

But why?

Sebastian kept his cards close to his chest.

It wasn't until Julian was completely out of sight that he finally looked down at Helena.

"Let's go," he ordered coldly. "I'm going to change, and then we'll eat."

"Okay," she agreed passively.

As Helena slowly stood up, Sebastian's hand naturally possessed her waist.

He caught her staring. "What are you being so prudish for? You've been sleeping with me for years."

He sounded utterly brazen.

Helena cleared her throat softly and didn't reply.

She was no match for him when it came to this kind of shamelessness.

She also didn't want the tension in the room to turn any more sexually charged than it already was.

So she quickly stood up. "I'll wait for you outside."

But the exact second she turned around, his large hand clamped down hard on her wrist.

He yanked her backward.

Stumbling on her heels, she collapsed onto the sofa.

Sebastian planted his hands on either side of her, perfectly caging her within his dominant territory.

To make matters worse, he was only half-dressed.

His shirt hung open, his slacks were undone, and his belt was slung low on his hips, revealing the sharp, teasing line of his underwear.

As he leaned over her, his striking V-lines flexed, radiating an overwhelmingly aggressive masculine energy.

Because he was hovering so close, her face flushed crimson.
