He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 337

Sebastian didn't know if his sudden surge of anger was born from shame or something else.

He glared at Helena. "Don't try to change the subject."

"Fine. Then what? Do you want me to pay with my life?" she fired back.

"But since I'm currently pregnant with your little tool, you can't exactly ask me to pay with my life. So you're just going to psychologically torture me here, using Wynn as your weapon, aren't you?" Helena suddenly let out a mocking laugh.

Sebastian furrowed his brow, staring down at her.

Despite her accusations, her demeanor remained chillingly flat.

It felt as though she was simply wading through a meaningless argument, too exhausted to truly fight.

"You've already convicted me of murder, haven't you? Janetta's already pressing charges. Everything is falling perfectly into her little plan, isn't it?"

"The moment I deliver this baby, the police will logically come to take me away. The verdict will come down, and I'll be thrown in prison."

"Heh. Once I'm rotting in a cell, do you really think I'll have any power left to fight back?"

Helena laid it all out with brutal honesty.

She had clearly played out every possible scenario in her head and accepted her fate.

Sebastian was caught completely off guard by her blunt assessment.

He felt a sudden rush of humiliated rage.

But he had no counterargument.

His expression turned terrifyingly dark.

"That's enough! This is all your paranoid delusion. Janetta is nothing like that," Sebastian barked.

But deep down, he knew his anger wasn't really about defending Janetta.

He was furious that Helena had completely read him.

He hated how clinically she had dissected his own motives.

Despite his outburst, Helena continued to look at him with eerie calm.

"Isn't she?" Helena didn't flinch.

"Is she going to let me go? Is this what letting me go looks like?" A cynical smile played on her lips.

"Hasn't she been the one backing me into a corner at every single turn?"

At the very least, she wasn't just sitting around waiting to die.

So she swallowed her grief, refusing to let herself lose control.

Sebastian's gaze grew terrifyingly heavy at her words.

Helena didn't care. She was completely used to it by now.

She pushed on. "She wants me dead. That's the only way she'll ever feel secure. But she's a brilliant actress, and everyone buys her pathetic little story."

"She crafted this perfect, innocent, victimized persona, so no matter what I do, I'm the villain."

Helena paused for a moment, as if catching her breath.

"And on top of that, Sebastian... you never trusted me to begin with. So every time I try to explain myself, it's just a waste of breath."

She kept her eyes locked dead onto his.

"Take today, for instance. You've already branded me a murderer. I'm completely at a disadvantage. I'm suffering constantly because of Janetta."

She let out another bitter laugh. "Given all of that, do you honestly think I'd be stupid enough to make things worse for myself? That I'd impulsively run to Wynn and intentionally hurt her along the way? The only outcome of that is Wynn getting hurt, and me getting punished. No rational human being would do something so insanely self-destructive."
