He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 384

They had no right to interfere with his decision.

"Understood," the doctor agreed softly, bowing his head.

Carter and the lawyer didn't say another word, quickly turning to finalize the stock transfer paperwork as instructed.

Sebastian stood there for a long time.

When he finally turned around, he froze.

Helena was standing right outside the door.

No one knew how long she had been there.

She was staring at him with a terrifying, hollow calmness, not saying a single word.

Everyone in the hall jumped in shock.

They exchanged panicked glances, none of them daring to make a sound.

His lips parted slightly. "How did you get here?"

As he spoke, he strode quickly toward her.

But the sickening dread in his chest was spiraling out of control.

He had no idea how long she had been standing there.

He had no idea how much she had heard.

"Mrs. Hayes, why did you run off..." A nurse came sprinting down the hall, panting heavily as she caught up.

No one could have predicted that Helena would sneak out through the bathroom connecting door, cross the lounge, and take the fire escape.

When the nurse saw the heavy atmosphere in the corridor, the blood drained from her face.

She didn't dare take another step forward.

Helena didn't utter a sound.

She waited until Sebastian was standing right in front of her.

He reached out naturally to check her forehead, as if seeing whether her fever had returned.

"Let's get you back to your room," his deep voice resonated softly.

But this time, the moment his hand brushed against her, she shoved him away.

Sebastian stared at his empty hand, maintaining his composure.

He turned to the trembling nurse. "Take my wife back to her room."

"She is your biological daughter. How can a human being be so unbelievably monstrous that they would abandon their own flesh and blood?"

"She has a chance! If she gets that surgery, she has a chance to survive!"

"But you threw it away. You threw her away because you wanted your precious stocks."

Her voice steadily climbed from that dead calm into a roaring fury.

Her furious cries echoed through the sterile hospital space.

She didn't care how wretched she looked.

She couldn't even feel the searing pain radiating from her wounds.

Her heart had already plummeted into a bottomless abyss.

She only wanted to fight for her daughter's right to live.

If given the choice, she would gladly die a thousand times over if it meant her baby could live.

How could she ever accept this?

Her pale, trembling hands had absolutely no strength left.

But fueled by pure desperation, she lunged forward and grabbed him fiercely by the collar.
