He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 395

The moment those words left his lips, she finally reacted.

The hand he was holding gave a faint, unmistakable twitch.

He felt it instantly.

His expression shifted violently.

Without a second thought, he hit the call button and ordered The Doctor in immediately.

She still hadn't opened her eyes, but the fingers trapped in his grasp gripped him back with desperate strength.

His gaze bored into her face, dark and unreadable.

He didn't blink.

As The Doctor rushed into the room, her eyelashes finally fluttered open.

Having been bedridden for so long, she couldn't summon the strength to utter a single word.

"Mrs. Hayes," The Doctor greeted her respectfully.

She didn't respond.

The Doctor was used to it by now and leaned over to check her vitals.

After a thorough examination, a wave of relief washed over The Doctor's face as he turned to Sebastian.

"She is fully conscious this time," The Doctor confirmed.

"Furthermore, her wounds have been healing quite well over the past few days. The external incisions have closed, though her uterus will still need about three months to recover. During this period, she cannot overexert herself or lift anything heavy," The Doctor instructed meticulously.

Sebastian gave a curt nod.

The Doctor hesitated before delivering the final warning.

"Most importantly, she must not be agitated. She cannot withstand any psychological trauma right now," he finished gravely.

Sebastian murmured in acknowledgment, offering no further comment.

The medical team didn't linger and quickly filed out of the room.

The ward was left in pin-drop silence, just the two of them facing each other.

As her cognitive awareness fully returned, the reality of her situation hit her.

She slowly pulled her hand free from his grip.

Her eyes were filled with nothing but raw, visceral resistance toward him.

He stared at his empty palm but said nothing.

The silence in the room stretched until it felt suffocating.

His voice cut through the air again.

"Grandpa's shares have been fully transferred into my name. I told you I'd save her, and I will. She's stabilized over the past two days, and the surgical team is already prepping the OR."

He relayed the reality of the situation with clinical detachment.

Hearing that, the crushing boulder sitting on her chest finally began to lift.

Even though she knew this surgery was a terrifying gamble with death.

Under these circumstances, she didn't argue.

She simply looked at him with eerie calmness. "You promised to let me take her. I hope you keep your word."

This time, he didn't immediately reply.

He didn't even bother asking her how she planned to survive once she took the child.

If he, with all his infinite resources, was struggling to keep the baby alive, what made her think she could?

But seeing the unyielding resolve in her eyes, he understood her choice.

"Helena, are you really that desperate to leave me?" he asked bluntly.

"Yes," she replied softly, sealing the finality of her answer.
