Sophia reminded Helena to get plenty of rest and to reach out if she needed anything before finally taking her leave.
Helena agreed.
She glanced around the small apartment. It had been regularly maintained, so it was perfectly fine for a temporary stay.
She had no intention of staying in Riverton long-term, so there was no need to make any permanent arrangements.
Not long after Sophia left, Helena's phone buzzed.
Very few people actually had her current number.
It was limited to just a handful of contacts.
Helena practically had no social life, having dedicated herself entirely to Sebastian in the past.
When she looked down at the screen, Julian Campbell's name flashed on the display.
Clearly, the news of her leaving Sebastian had already made the rounds.
Helena hesitated for a moment but didn't reject the call. She answered it.
"I'm heading to Riverton right now," Julian said directly.
"Julian, I just want some peace and quiet to finish what I need to do here, okay?" Helena's tone was calm, but the rejection was evident in every word.
Even through the phone, Julian could feel her stubborn resolve.
He understood Helena well.
She had an incredibly stubborn streak.
Once she set her mind to something, no one could change it.
Just like years ago, when she insisted on giving up everything.
Nobody could stop her.
That was the exact reason Julian had left in a fit of anger back then.
Coupled with everything that had recently happened, he certainly didn't dare push her now.
It seemed his fiery temper was only ever reined in when it came to her.
"Fine, Lena. I'll hold off on coming over for now. But you need to take care of yourself, and call me immediately if anything happens," Julian instructed simply.
"I will," Helena replied softly.
She knew exactly what his temper was like.
She was afraid that if she said too much, he would do something impulsive.
It was no secret that he and Sebastian despised each other.
