By the time Helena turned around, Julian was already looking down at his documents again.
Helena stood in silence for a moment before Julian noticed her hesitation. "I'm staying with you until we leave. I can't leave you alone like this."
Julian seemed to effortlessly read her mind and laid out his intentions plainly.
"I know there's only one bedroom in this apartment, but it doesn't matter. I can sleep in the living room. I've survived far worse conditions over the years, so don't worry about me," Julian said casually.
His casual remark left Helena completely at a loss for words.
"Besides, you're single, and I'm single. There's nothing wrong with us staying under the same roof." Julian effortlessly dismantled every possible concern she might have.
Helena felt even more defeated.
Julian's dominance was entirely different from Sebastian's.
Julian's authority radiated from his very core.
It was something you simply couldn't refuse.
Sebastian, on the other hand, hid his dominance behind a polished mask.
He would agree on the surface, but secretly sabotage you at every turn to get his way.
Inadvertently comparing the two men made Helena grow even quieter.
Finally, she looked at Julian. "Julian, I'm really fine."
"If you're fine, what are you so afraid of?" Julian replied smoothly. "And anyway, if something does happen between us, I'll marry you."
With the conversation pushed to that extreme, Helena simply gave up.
She didn't offer another word of protest.
"Go get some rest. Stop stressing yourself out," Julian coaxed. "I still have a few things to wrap up in Riverton anyway. Once I'm done, we'll head back to Boston."
His words made Helena look up at Julian in genuine surprise.
Helena was well aware of the Campbell family's vast influence.
There was no way they would actually allow Julian to stay away indefinitely.
Julian was entirely unfazed. "I'll give you a year or two to adjust before I bring you back to the Campbell family. That stuffy old place is nothing special anyway. Even when we move back to Coralia, I'll make sure we have our own place."
Every single word was uttered with Helena's best interests in mind.
So it was impossible for Helena to remain entirely unaffected.
"Alright, off to bed." Julian stood up and gently nudged Helena toward the bedroom.
