The sight of the two of them walking hand in hand reflected perfectly in his dark gaze.
He stared through the tinted glass, watching them without uttering a single word.
To Sebastian, seeing Helena with Julian made it painfully obvious just how relaxed she was.
They looked entirely comfortable, like an old married couple.
What made it worse was that they were surrounded by reporters, yet neither of them seemed to care.
Sebastian hadn't exactly missed Julian's explosive, highly public rant on Twitter, either.
His ruthless, unapologetic defense of Helena had been on full display for the entire world.
Watching Julian openly stake his claim, Sebastian felt a twisted, unrecognizable emotion clawing at his chest.
It suffocated him completely, leaving him with absolutely no way to vent his fury.
Beside him, Carter Miles didn't dare breathe too loudly.
They were supposed to be heading to see Janetta.
Instead, Sebastian had abruptly pulled over here and sat parked in total silence for the past half hour.
Too intimidated to pressure Sebastian directly, Janetta had been frantically calling Carter instead.
Carter had no choice but to keep answering. "Ms. Ramirez, Mr. Hayes had something come up last minute. He'll be there soon."
Sebastian obviously heard every word of Carter's exchange with Janetta.
Yet his gaze remained entirely locked onto Helena.
Suddenly, Sebastian spoke up, his voice dangerously low. "Carter, hire someone to look into Janetta's time abroad."
Carter froze. "You want me to investigate Ms. Ramirez?"
"Yes," Sebastian confirmed with a curt nod.
Carter paused for a beat before nodding. "Understood, sir."
In the past, Sebastian had ordered Carter to look into Janetta a handful of times.
But those investigations had never turned up anything substantial.
Now, completely out of the blue, he was ordering a deep dive into her history overseas.
Carter figured that Julian's public threats had finally managed to strike a nerve with Sebastian.
After all, Julian wasn't the kind of man to throw out wild accusations without solid proof to back them up.
